Some years ago, a person kept complaining about the nearby shooting range after he had bought a house in a new development. One day he called the police to complain that a bullet had hit his house. The police came out, and the homeowner handed them a bullet. The cops at least knew enough about guns, that when they looked at the bullet, which showed no rifling marks, but did have marks that appeared to have been made by a pair of pliers, that they told the homeowner never to call again.

Heard of a similar story right here on FR. The “aggrieved’ homeowner dropped an round in the cop's hand claiming it had hit his house.
Except it still had it's brass casing on it.
