So, Jumper; explain to us the reason behind our supporting Al Qaida in Syria, especially as the idiots made the mistake of announcing the ‘chemical attack’ the day before is happened!

Are you kidding me? Iran is no longer ‘surrounded’ by any effective US military! Obama has removed our best assets in Afghanistan and Iraq. The time to take on Iran was during the revolution....and Obama refused to do it. Obama has no intention to take on Iran. He is installing Islamists, AQ and Muslim Brotherhood in power all over the Middle East.

The word surgical always comes just before 150,000 US boots on the ground. We are going to end up in WWIII real soon.

How could anyone defend Obama’s actions. His leading from behind has allowed AQ to assume a greater role, along with the MB in Syria. America’s interests have been subverted and literally flipped upside down the CHANGE. There is no support within the rational echelons of our government to support AQ. But is it not an opportunity to let yet another killing field occupy AQ’s ambitions and attrite their numbers in a nasty war where they yet again have to face a superior military that is fashioned upon the old Soviet Order of Battle. Chemical weapons were a reality for those of us who were expected to confront the USSR or Soviet forces in any scenario. If you believe the US is supporting AQ then you must also believe that the Obama Administration has double-crossed the American people and our Allies.

Wow, you guys are hysterical and completely wrapped up in “news”. If you have any doubts about the USA seeking an opportunity to dismember Iran’s allies then you have no vision of how containment and isolation works when dealing with a terrorist support government such as Iran’s. The US is quite aware of Iran’s Rev Guards performing recon of US Embassies and Consulates in S. America and other places globally; it is complicated confront them militarily when the collateral damage will be to our diplomatic missions abroad. The best solution to dealing with Iran is to break their military strongholds in allied countries and then to blockade them with military forces from both sea and air. Obama would have been crazy to try to seek a military solution without decoupling Syria and Lebanon, as well as containing Iran’s assets in S. America. Patience.

There are one h**l of a lot of Ragtops over there that hate us. If we get into a scrap with anyone we will have to take them all on. As the man said, We don't have a dog in that hunt. This time, let's just watch and see who wins.

"We have to move, and we have to move quickly," said Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. "Congress needs to be involved, but perhaps not initially."

Oh, really? Tell us again about Bush's "unilateral declaration of war on Iraq" that involved no fewer than two Congressional votes and formal presentations to the UN. The rules sure have changed since then.

“... If you believe the US is supporting AQ then you must also believe that the Obama Administration has double-crossed the American people and our Allies.”

Yes, I do so believe.

Furthermore, there is something else in the arsenal of the new Russia that didn’t exist twenty-five years ago — weaponized ‘Black Pox’ (India 1 smallpox) and refrigerated warheads mounted on intercontinental ballistic missiles suitable for delivery on our doorsteps.

We’re vulnerable.

Russia now has a keen financial interest in maintaining a direct access port on the Med for their natural gas exports. Our using any faction in the Middle East to stem their economic interests would be foolish, and the Ruskies would respond vehemently. That’s national interest of a type most Americans can understand.

Your explanation is too complicated and frankly sounds like something a policy wonk would use. I suggest you try using common sense, instead.

There is a reason the ME is known to historians as “the graveyard of empires”.
