If MLK were alive today, he would be in the same league as Al Sharpton. He would be nothing but a race pimp. Why do so many people on Freerepublic hold him up to be some sort of God?

That's so very true. The high regard for Marxist Luther King, Junior from Conservatives makes no sense at all. King was indoctrinated at a communist training school in Grundy County, Tennessee. Here are King's very own words about Ronald Reagan, the finest President of the last 100 years:

"When a Hollywood performer, lacking distinction even as an actor, can become a leading war hawk candidate for the presidency, only the irrationalities induced by war psychosis can explain such a turn of events."

And MLK claimed to be a minister. If so, why were his last days spent marching on behalf of a corrupt government union (AFSCME) in Memphis instead of preaching the actual Gospel? In reality, Marxist Luther King was and remains a fraud, a communist and a traitor to America.

America has always had rich and poor.

The only difference now is that the rich have to work and the poor don’t.

Why don’t we just give each person in the US a $1,000,000?

...uh where does the money come from to guarantee this pipe dream?
Boy you are dumb. From Obama’s stash, of course.

Where did Obama get the money? I dunno... from his stash!

I once got into an hour long conversation with a terminally stupid co-worker over this. She stated that all she knew was she was poor and she needed money from “the government.” I told her the government didn’t not make or possess that money and that it came from taxpayers. It took me nearly an HOUR to explain this to her.

They truly do NOT understand where it comes from, believe me. It’s just “government” money to them.

So true. Indeed, if MLK was such a great christian why were his last days on Earth spent in hotel with white prostitutes?

“The centerpiece of Nixon’s welfare reform was the replacement of much of the welfare system with a negative income tax, a favorite proposal of conservative economist Milton Friedman. The purpose of the negative income tax was to provide both a safety net for the poor and a financial incentive for welfare recipients to work.” http://millercenter.org/academic/americanpresident/nixon/essays/biography/4

***46 million citizens are living in poverty and that we have become two Americas,***

It’s easy to remedy. Get off your dead a$$ and get a job. Any job. Work till you can move up, then do it.

Build more Treasury printing presses, have those suckers running day and night, churning out as much cash as we need.

I could run for office on that idea and receive a certain 47% of the vote.

This pos article/book promo twists the concepts promoted by MLK and Friedman into nonsense.

Deceitful, shameful BS.

I guess that means that King’s dream was for the character he wanted all men to be judged by to be lacking in Blacks....

We can’t pay for the “basic guarantees” that we’ve already got - Social security and Medicare.

It might actually be cheaper to aggregate all the bennies that “the poor” get and just give them cash if we then dismantle the state and federal bureaucracy around it.

However, the “two Americas” are not “the rich and the rest of us”. Today it is those “working for or supported by government” and then “the rest of us”

The increasing contempt those government-supported “haves” feel for the “rest of us” can no longer be ignored.

I wish we could all stop pretending MLK was some brilliant lightworker and admit what he really was. He was a communist agitator with a good marketing team.
