Angel Baby - Rosie & The Originals
Songwriters: Rose Hamlin It's just like heaven Being here with you You're like an angel Too good to be true But after all I love you i do Angel baby My angel baby When you are near me My heart skips a beat I can hardly stand on My own two feet Because i love you I love you i do Chorus: Angel baby my angel baby Ooh ooh i love you Ooh ooh i do No one can love you Like i do Ooh ooh ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh Please never leave me Blue and alone If you ever go Im sure you'll come back home Because i love you I love you i do

Jimmy Durante - Young At Heart 1954
Songwriters: Carolyn Leigh, Johnny Richards Fairy tales can come true It can happen to you If youre young at heart. For its hard, you will find, To be narrow of mind If youre young at heart. You can go to extremes With impossible schemes; You can laugh when your dreams Fall apart at the seams; And life becomes exciting with each passing day, And love is either in your heart
or on its way. Dont you know that its worth Every treasure on earth To be young at heart? For, as rich as you are, Its much better by far To be young at heart. And, if you should survive To a hundred and five, Look at all youll derive Just by being alive! Now, here is the best part: You have a head start If you are amongst the very young
At heart. And, if you should survive To a hundred and five, Look at all youll derive Just by being alive! Now, here is the best part: You have a head start If you are amongst the very young
At heart.

I used Rosie and the Originals “Angel Baby” to take wallpaper off the wall. She sounded like what happened when I stepped on the tails of several of my cats all at the same time.
Oldie but Goldie
* Rocket 88
* Smokey Places - The Corsairs
* Broken Hearted Melody - Sara Vaughn
* “Dream Lover” - Bobby Darin (And “Queen of the Hop”)
* “Lonely Teardrops” and “Reet Petite” by Jackie Wilson
* “All Shook Up” and “Jailhouse Rock” Elvis
* “Dream” - Everly Brothers
* “Great Balls of Fire” - Jerry Lee Lewis
* “Johnny Be Good” - Chuck Berry
I could write titles for months. The 50’s had the greatest “oldies” (and you could dance to all of them).
Lots of “Do Whop” should also be on this list, Spaniels, Skyliners, Sonny Til and the Orioles, Moonglows, etc.

Where to start? There are a million oldies I love, but for some reason “slow dancing” popped into my head. I think this is one of the best “slow dancing” songs. Play this one with your gal in your arms and you’ve got her forever.

In 1991, I actually saw Rosie Hamlin lip-synch “Angel Baby” in a TV studio in Long Beach, Calif. when I was working as a volunteer with an “oldies” telecast.
