I'm not a Catholic, and wasn't raised to appreciate them all that much.  No offense intended to anyone.  I just like to lay it out there so folks can understand where I am coming from.

In an age when men value power more than just about anything, here's a man that accepted what he thought was God's desire, and passed on the power to someone else.

I can't help but respect that.

Its odd that there are people who believe that you pray for God's guidance and he doesn't give it.

I would think that it’s obvious that he was listening to God. Don’t we all try to discern God’s will in prayer and contemplation, regardless of our labels? Yes, I’m a Catholic, but I’d be shocked by any non-Catholic, church going Christian who wasn’t seeking God’s way.
