You can’t have it both ways, in 1974 I worked for minimum wage which was $2.00/hr at the time. So adjusted for inflation that would be $12.00/hr today. So at $2.00/hr was I making “too much” then per hour in 1974? Is that what you are saying to me?

That assumes wages have kept up with inflation. They haven't.
