White people are products of their own whitewashed, sanitized environment. Black people have been systematically excluded from white neighborhoods. Black stories rarely surface in popular culture. The history of race in high school textbooks has been boiled down to a handful of bedtime stories about Jackie Robinson and Rosa Parks. Try to tap into the average white person's feelings on race and you won't necessarily find feelings of hate and antipathy. You just won't find much of anything, no fully formed or well-considered thoughts about race of any kind. There's nothing really there. Even white people who want black friends don't know where to start.

That's right I said it.
White people are products of their own whitewashed, sanitized environment.
If I said "Black people are products of their own thug culture and ghetto environment." the left would castigate me. But say something similar about whites and you can get on TV and be applauded by the "enlightened" left.
Black people have been systematically excluded from white neighborhoods.
Really? Are you still living in the 1950s? Wake up and look around. Oh, maybe you are living in a liberal neighborhood...
Black stories rarely surface in popular culture. The history of race in high school textbooks has been boiled down to a handful of bedtime stories about Jackie Robinson and Rosa Parks.
Um, you can't make up what doesn't exist. For much of the period covered by "history" books the US did oppress blacks. So no, there are few stories of blacks making significant contributions in history because few took place, few were allowed. This is history and fact, not some more recent plot to keep black accomplishments out of history books. The author here is a short sighted, manipulative jerk.
Try to tap into the average white person's feelings on race and you won't necessarily find feelings of hate and antipathy. You just won't find much of anything, no fully formed or well-considered thoughts about race of any kind.
Wow. Could the author be any more racist, prejudiced, and stereotype people based on race? If he said something similar about hispanics or blacks his liberal friends would faint. If I said something like that about hispanics or blacks there would be liberals calling for my head on a platter, hoping I got cancer, etc. etc. So the message here from this fool is that it is ok to be wildly prejudiced against whites? How nice. How's that tolerance and diversity thing going?
There's nothing really there. Even white people who want black friends don't know where to start.
And right there is the not-so-hidden liberal racism laid bare. See, us people who really, honestly don't care about race just want friends. But a liberal who is so racist they can't even see it categorizes everyone. "I need another gay friend." ... "Gee, I'd like to make a black friend." They don't see these people as just people, just friends. They are a check marks on their own internal list so they can feel good about how diverse and accepting they are. They don't even see how they are limiting and labeling these people. They're not friends, they're "black friends" etc. In the liberal mind they can never be anything else, never be that great friend who's good at poker. Never be the crazy friend that likes mountain biking just a little too much (and has the scars to prove it). No, they are labeled by race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc. Liberals don't have friends, they have "gay friends" and "black friends" and "Muslim friends" and all kinds of labels so they can have more check marks on their diversity card than their other liberal friends. These people make me sick.
I have some friends who are black and invite into my home as I do my friends who are white and Mexican. They are also republicans who are probably more socially conservative than I am, and I'm no liberal.
BTW - WTF kind of name is Tanner? Stupid white yuppie........
Totally agree - only severe libs think like this. Like I said - the friends I have are because we have stuff in common - if you're an ass or I find you dislikable for whatever reason, you and I will not be friends, I don't care what color you are.
LOL!!!
Great points...and nicely punctuated. These lunatics are forever keeping score. In the name of "fairness and tolerance."
How come everyone else transcends differences in community except blacks and gays?
I can understand why Farrakhan is pissed, that is one hella club of rage.
Who gives a rat’s *ss.
I’ve had black friends from HS through present time. The only person I have talked to tonight besides family is my Jamaican friend who i have known and trusted for 8 years now.
BUT, I’ll bet this somehow makes me racist...for even mentioning it.
You know that is a great point.
Libs love to divide and conquer in the name of diversity and social injustice, but the big dogs still live on the hill.
“Many black writers responded to the Reuters poll with essays on why they didn’t want white friends, and didn’t need them. White friends weren’t worth the bother.”
How come this wasn’t the headline and buried deep in the article?
I’m white and I’ve had black friends for decades. We don’t think anything about it!
I was recently with a black friend barbecueing on his deck. He looked over and saw an old white neighbor barbecuing on his deck a couple houses down. He told me the old white guy was a dick. I asked him why he thought the guy was a dick. My friend said that one day when he was trimming the hedges and doing lots of yard work the old white guty was walking by and made a crack about the joys of home ownership.
What me and you would interpret as a joke or small talk about how much work you have to put into your house and yard, he interpreted as a racist statement that this must be his first time living in a home and not an apartment because he's a black guy.
It wasn't worth the headache of me telling him that he read way too into the innocuous statement.
That said, geography is important. Blacks and whites tend to live in different places. Some states have almost no Blacks. Then, there are cultural differences, preferences in food, entertainment. Finally, especially since Obama, there is an ever present atmosphere of touchiness and sensitivity. Hard to relax: if you lament that boys were left to die alone in Benghazi or that our kids can’t find jobs, you hit a raw nerve. Who needs it?
That is the sad tale of every neighborhood that flips from majority white to majority black, yet it is allegedly somehow racist to state this obvious truth.
CNN is now taking opinion pieces from Tiger Beat magazine writers.
"Have you become the girl that Leif Garrett wants to kiss? Find out inside!"
Tanner Colby, you have a stupid name and write stupid shit. Go up in the forest and drink a jug of anti-freeze. Seriously.
