Russian President Vladimir Putin called an extraordinary session at the Kremlin Saturday to "discuss the situation in Egypt and take the necessary steps to the put Russian military facilities at the Egyptian military's disposal," said an announcement in Moscow, without elaborating. Putin said further that "Russia will arrange for joint military exercises with the Egyptian army." DEBKAfile: Moscow's steps directly conflict with Western condemnation of the Egyptian military's crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood. They were taken shortly after President Barack Obama cancelled a joint military exercise with Egypt as a mark of US disapproval.
Maybe that because we have been fools for years, or at least our government has been. We have spent billions of $ and have lost thousands of our young men's and women's lives fighting radical islamists (Taliban) in one country while we back radical islamists (Muslim Brotherhood) in another country a few hundred miles away. It's the same basic contradictory situation that would have existed 70 years ago if we had backed Nazi Germany against the Brits in Europe while at the same time we also backed the Brits against Imperialist Japan in the Pacific theater.
IOW, our leaders of the last 2 decades have either been dumber than a box of rocks or they have deliberately brought the US to the brink of a major league disaster for some arcane purpose that we can only guess at. My best guess is both of the above.
Let's face it. For Arab countries in the Middle East, they are always better off when a secular Arab Strongman is in charge.
Neo-Con ideals advocated by the Bush Administration haven't showed to be working in the Middle East. Best example, the Christians in Iraq were better off when Saddam was in charge.

That was the plan all along. Snowden’s layover in Hong Kong was just a ruse.. Would’ve been too obvious had Snowden gone to Russia from the get go, right (FLEXIBILITY)? People don’t realize the extent to which the NWO’s 0bama is out to sabotage every sector of our government (IRS, CIA, FBI, NSA, DOJ,) including Pvt. Manning’s breach, Wikileaks, SEAL team 6 outing by VP Biden.. It’s bad, REALLY bad what’s being done to our standing in the world. It’s being evaporated. You think Zero’s support for Morsi would work out for us? Hell no.

Say what you want about Vlad (rhetorically speaking here), the guy is decisive. He is playing to precisely the right group here. You can tell because our guy hasn’t.

A major world leader showing some brains about geo politics — unlike another leader we all know.
With Obama in power, reality is beginning to look like a bad acid trip.
The news from Russia is really odd lately. It seems like Russia is stepping up where the U.S. would have stepped up in the past. Russia seems on top of the issues, we seem (well) off on some wild goose chase toward oblivion.

Yes indeed. It’s more than heart warming to see chains of Egyptians standing in front of churches protecting them from MB. And these are Moslem Egyptians, too.

Putin is taking advantage of the Obama foolishness here.
He will not side with the Islamic extremists, and he sees a chance to pry Egypt back away from the US (because of the Obama foolishness), and then not only get them back into the Russian sphere, but also have unbelievable access to some of the latest US technology if he can.
Sadly, we have three more years of an Obama administration gutting our military, ruining our key alliances, and destroying our foreign policy before we get the opportunity to turn this disaster around. We can only pray that the Egyptians will hiold the line against the Islamic extremists (as they are doing) and to do so without giving into to what are sure to be beaucoup Russuan overtures.
