King Abdullah lashes out at terror in Egypt

RIYADH: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah, called on Arabs on Friday to be united against attempts to destabilize Egypt.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its people and government have always stood with the cause of its brothers in Egypt against terrorism, deviation and sedition,” the King said in a message on Saudi television.

“I call on the men of Egypt and Arab and Muslim nations, and the noble scholars, thinkers and conscientious people, men of reason and writers to stand as one man and with one heart in the face of attempts to destabilize a country that is in the forefront of Arab and Muslim history,” he said.

“We have been closely following the developments in our brotherly nation of Egypt. The events there are pleasing only an enemy which hates to see a stable and secure Egypt. On the other hand, it is deeply painful to all who wish to see stability and unity prevailing in Egypt,” the King said.

“Those who have interfered in its affairs must know that they are stoking the fire of sedition and backing terrorism, which they claim to fight,” the King said, hoping that they would return to their senses sooner than later.

The King, stressing on the Islamic and Arab character of Egypt which has a glorious history, said: “Somebody’s utterances on the subject will not change the situation. The country has the potential and strength to return to a safe shore. That day, the enemies will realize that they were wrong,” the King said in his concluding remarks.

So are they throwing Obama under the bus? Is the stability to oil sales all that much important to them?

Well, who would have known?!

Now what Obama? Go on another bike ride, a hand of spades with your love?

What sort of diversion is he going to stir up between classes and races of Americans now? Trayvon, arresting homeschoolers,Obamacare, Data bases of spying on citizens, Gun grab??

Is he still the sweet golden child of the UN, if the Saudis are done with him? Of is this all just part of the Kabuki theater?

Strange world.

All it would take is for the price of oil to go up and the American economy would crash....

You don’t think King Abdullah knows that?

(I was being sarcastic) ;) I just wonder if Obama was prepared for this occurrence and if they are all playing theater, or IF he is surprised that he would be spanked like this.. or if he even cares.

"The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah"

You'd think he'd hire out for that job.

This is hardly a shocking development. Look at the politics:

1. The Muslim Brotherhood is a Sunni based movement.
2. Saudi Arabia is a Sunni dominated country.
3. Egypt is a Sunni dominated country.

So Saudi Arabia has a problem. Who to side with?

I think you get the answer by looking at Iran, the country most threatening to Saudi Arabia. Iran is Shia dominated and is developing weapons that will directly threaten Saudi Arabia. Double trouble for the Sunni Saudis.

And guess who is cuddling up with Iran?

You guessed it: The Muslim Brotherhood. Not a good move by the MB I’m afraid. Morsi may be rethinking that strategy.

Thats certainly one thing they are afraid of.
The other is the Iranians grabbing their oil, or making them some offers they can’t refuse, following when they get the bomb.

Custodian is accurate but not the best word for it these days as we have added different meanings in modern times.

The root is the Latin Custos or guardian.
Our other meanings of custodian are euphemisms.

“Protector” would work better, much like Oliver Cromwells title, “Lord Protector”.

Yes. Still, I had a chuckle over it, since when I was in school, the custodian was the fella we had to fetch when a kid would get sick on the floor.

“So Saudi Arabia has a problem”——Oh Yeah, indeed they do. They thot they were paying the MB to keep the cheap krap out of Soddy Land. They paid off Bin Laden to get him out of the home country. For decades they paid refugees in Gaza and elsewhere to keep them off the peninsula. Bahrain is only pausing before the next party. This all got started because Bin Laden wanted us to quit defending the Soddies so he could cut their throats. The throat cutting of the Royal Soddies hasn’t started yet but I’ve said for years that it will be the final act in the ME play.

Remember that we don’t actually depend on Soddy oil that much and none of our companies will be hurt by them going titsup. The royals bought the foreign companies out of Aramco years ago-—it’s their deal entirely now-—go or blow.

++++++++++++++
I agree with you on this and have made that point in earlier posts today. But somehow I don’t think the huge implications of our slow but sure divorce from ME oil has really sunk into the heads of either our politicians or, for that matter, many Freepers.

It is a BIG DEAL. Over time it will change our whole strategy vis a vis the mess called the Middle East.
