President Obama has contributed to [Egypt's] descent into chaos by providing foreign aid to the military regime while maintaining an otherwise detached and abstract position, according to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who called for an end to financial support.
President Obamas detached and abstract statement yesterday on deteriorating conditions in Egypt is only the most recent manifestation of this administrations failed policy in that country, Cruz said.
As there can no longer be any reasonable doubt that what occurred in July was a military coup, the first step is to send an unequivocal message that the United States is a nation of laws and suspend aid to Egypt, he said.

Man, Ted is just inviting the slings and arrows! I think he is being nice here.
I blame the violins in Egypt on Bammy’s support for the Muzzie Bros. worldwide. In the US it’s 0bamaCAIR.
Go get ‘I’m, Ted.
It’s time to start fighting The Great Usurper and his minions tooth and nail on everything.
We’re going to be labelled obstructionists no matter what, so might as well pull out every trick to derail Bozo’s headlong rush to a total dictatorship.
If we will not back the military they will look to Russia to support them and return to a Russian client state in the Middle East.
Ted Cruz in 2016.
Ted Cruz rocks
And that includes the collective socialist/totalitarian U.S. federal government!
What AM I MISSING here? Aren’t the Egyptian military blowin’ away moozies? I don’t see a need to stop them.
Ted Cruz is an idiot. The Egyptian military steeped in to preserve their fledgling democracy from the Muslime Brotherhood whose leader, Morsi, was issuing one decree after another to usurp the democratic process.
Now Cruz is, by default, defending the Muslime Brotherhood and I’ll now say with absolute confidence that there’s NO WAY I’ll vote for him.
Next?
Exactly...and worth repeating, Jim.
That was pretty much the default position of most FReepers until sometime in the last 48 hours. Now I’m being called a muslim brotherhood supporter for saying it. LOL
I don’t think Ted was defending the Muslim Brotherhood. I think Ted was blasting Obama for ever supporting MB in the first place back during the “Arab Spring”
“Obama has us on the wrong side in Egypt.”
Why take sides in Egypt? Obama is actually funding the military because they are the official government now.
I just think it’s interesting that there were many Cruz supporters bashing Rand Paul yesterday for also calling for an end to foreign aid to Egypt.
Cruz and Rand have the same worldview and the same philosophy but some of his supporters are under the illusion that they are different.
I place the blame on the Muslim brotherhood who wanted to force a backwards religion on a whole nation in an attempt to enslave the population.
Nope. Read it again. Cruz wants aid suspended to the Egyptian military that’s currently fighting the islamist Muslim Brotherhood.
That’s going to HELP the islamic fundamentalists, not hurt them!
Sorry to say, but Obama is right on this one even if he doesn’t want to be. The only hope Egypt has at being truly free is if the military succeeds in putting down the islamists.
And Cruz is aiding and abetting the islamists with his words.
The muslim brotherhood loving Juan MeCain can be sent to the retirement pasture!
Of course he’s on the wrong side. A totalitarian sides with the totalitarians. He’s on the wrong side of our constitution also.
Send the Egyptian military a copy of the constitution and the declaration. We’re not using it. As for Russia...they’re no match for the greatest anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life collective in the history of civilization.

Socialists and totalitarian wannabes can’t hold a candle to this collective.
