Arlington, Texas A family with a passion for gardening and conscious living was raided by the Arlington SWAT team early Friday morning. All 8 adults present in the house were initially handcuffed at the gunpoint of heavily armed SWAT officers, including the mother of a 22 month old and a two week old baby who was separated from her children during the raid. I had a chance to interview Quinn who gave me his first hand account of the raid and the background behind it all.

Good. I hope it cleans out the treasury and requires an enormous tax increase to pay for it. The taxpayers got them a big dog, convincing themselves that it was needed to keep them safe. They refused to keep it on a leash and it attacked the neighbors. Sucks to be them.
KMHA. This has nothing to do with the military being military. It has to do with cops being military.
It is a small sample (12 or so), but only one of the cops that I personally know has any military experience. Yes, most of the others are control freaks and wannabees. They get the latest military uniforms before the guys in Afgahinsan do.
This property is rural so there isn’t a neighborhood association. The closest neighbors are some cows and a junk yard across the road, a small airfield with a dirt runway behind them and a few houses and trailers along the road. They were targeted for nothing but being hippies.
Assuming this is all true, I hope the hippies end up owning the City of Arlington.
I agree, SWAT raids for crap that in saner times would result in a visit from a codes officer and a citation and fine and eventually a visit with the codes officer and one cop to ensure you pay up or clean up or both or a condemned notice.
Seriously SWAT teams, aerial recon etc... for this! If I were an Arlington SWAT team member I guess they could go home at the end of the day and regale their family and friends about how they had a dangerous mission today and how they made Arlington safe for the manicured lawn Nazi’s of Arlington.
If you work for the Arlington police department I would be ashamed to tell anyone after reading this suck head stunt.
But let me guess, “I was just following orders” or the ever popular, “I was just doing my job”. Neither were acceptable excuses at Nuremberg and neither are acceptable today.
“These things are a problem despite neighborhood covenants”
Covenants can be enforced only through civil lawsuits. Government does not enforce covenants.
You beat me to it.

I can’t post a pic but their nice white fence on street view maps is plastered with what looks like official notices.
I’ve heard rumors that the growers in the article I linked, over a dozen, were living “off the grid” with underground operations, and left for months at a time.
The left HATES preppers, because they plan on continuing to live independently when the govt shuts off the means for others to obtain access to basic necessities.
I don’t think anyone could call these guys preppers, more like Hippies.
“The Garden of Eden, a small Intentional Community based on Sustainability.”
That’s got “commune” written all over it. I do believe they were probably targeted because their lifestyle did not fit in with the surrounding neighborhood.
One of these days they are going to raid a home that was set up for them to raid and they will all leave in body bags. Or Shop Vacs.
Best reply on the thread. Perfect analogy.
Just a joke, from an old Star Trek episode, “The Way To Eden”, where they pick up a bunch of space “hippies”. They called Kirk a “Herbert”, because he was like, square, man.
They could have gotten the same result by calling over to Dunkin Donuts and sending two uniforms out to the property to look it over and stand there while the grass got cut.
The “owners” rotate them in and out for weeks at a time so they get to party in town and come back when broke.
People of Arlington, Texas grow your own dope, plant City Police Officers.
but ... but ... I thought Woodstock was all about getting back to the Garden? to get back to the land and set our souls free? (Cue CS&N) I thought it was all about “making love, not war.” Guess that was then; this is now...
P.S. Speaking of CSN(&Y), I heard “Chicago” somewhere the other day and it gave me the creeps. Listening to it 40 years later, given all that is happening now, was just really, really chilling.
