No. Russia’s policy makes it a criminal offense to promulgate homosexuality publicly and to children, not to practice it in private. Also, there are no round-ups and extermination camps. So again, the answer to the rediculous question put forth by the author is still “no”. Iran or Saudi Arabia on the other hand might be more appropriate comparisons to Nazi Germany.

Uh...Nazis were rife with homosexuals, Hitler surrounded himself with them, probably was one (see "Hidden Hitler" by Lothar Machlan, if I remember the author's name correctly) and in fact, the philosophical foundation of Nazism including homosexuality. Homosexuals were never targeted for extinction or punishment, only a small number were ever incarcerated in camps for the "crime", and they were often political opponents. The connection between Nazism and homosexuality was well known at the time "The History of the Third Reich" was printed. Read "The Pink Swastika" - best book about the topic. Two places have it all online.

One of the bizarre subtexts of the Third Reich was a seeming “war” between butch and pink homosexuals that’s never been well explained.
The hierarchy of the Sturmabteilung, Storm Troopers, the “brown shirts”, was loaded with butch homosexuals, including its leader Ernst Röhm, who was later purged during “The Night of the Long Knives”, and replaced along with other homosexual SA leaders. And the SA were at the forefront of the persecution of pink homosexuals. Many remaining butch homosexuals then joined the General SS.
But the homosexual schism goes back to the 1860’s. The “grandfather of gay rights” was a homosexual German lawyer named Karl Heinrich Ulrichs. By the time Ulrichs died in 1895, the “gay rights” movement in Germany had gained considerable strength. Frederich Engels noted this in a letter to Karl Marx regarding Ulrich’s efforts. But after his death, the movement split into two separate and opposed factions.
What divided these groups was their concepts of masculinity, what today can be called butch and pink. The butch faction were Nietzschean, and perceived themselves not merely as masculine, but as a breed of men superior in masculine qualities even to heterosexuals.
The Community of the Special (CS) asserted that male homosexuality was the foundation of all nation-states and that male homosexuals represented an elite strata of human society.
And they worked hand in glove in the Nazi party, with special hatred for pink homosexuals.
Actually most Mozlem countries are very schizophrenic about male/male sodomy. Publically it is illegal, but privately pederasty is very common in many Mozlem countries, such as Afghanistan. Male/male sodomy is very common there.

There is no excuse for the ignorance of thinking that Nazis in any way targeted homosexuals for punishment or death.
The Russians are just being practical. They saw their declining and aging population and reasoned(accurately) that homosexuality is not part of the solution.
Actually several of hitler’s top aids were in fact queer.

One of my (non-Jewish) relatives was sent to a Nazi concentration camp for being homosexual. He was shot according to Auschwitz records, rather than gassed or burned, so I was a little sloppy in my choice of words. The point is the same though. We have clear documentary evidence written by the Nazis that the Nazis labeled individuals as homosexual, tortured them, and murdered them. I'm not sure why anyone would question that aspect of the Holocaust.
The Holocaust museum is filled with revisionist “non-homophobic” phony history. I remember Jews protesting against this very subject and madeup “anti-gay” history a few years ago.
The point is the Nazis had tons of homosexuals in the ranks, Hitler Jugend was known as “Homo Jugend”, and trying to equate the treatment of homosexuals by the Nazis (when many of them were flagrant and unbelievably depraved and vicious homosexuals themselves) is not only patently untrue, it is highly offensive.
I suggest you read “The Pink Swastika”. It is by far the best book on the topic of homosexuals and the Nazis.
Regarding the anti-sodomy law in Nazi Germany, it was actually removed, and then later reinstated; especially to use as tool to arrest political enemies. The Nazis loathed effeminate homosexuals and prided themselves on their uber masculinity - as long as they were the dominant sodomite.
When you say “broadly interpreted law against homosexuality” you ain’t kidding. Many non-homosexual men were arrested - political enemies especially, opponents of the State.
You really, really need to get educated on this topic.
Homosexuals as a class were never targeted for extinction. Most homosexuals who died in camps died from hunger, disease and filth. And very few died, especially when you compare the numbers to especially Jews, but also Slavs, Gypsies etc.
