Federal authorities are boosting security in the United States after intelligence agencies detected a credible threat to Western interests overseas and the government began closing diplomatic posts in some Muslim countries, according to homeland security officials.
The Department of Homeland Security is increasing security measures at airports, train stations and other transportation hubs, and expanding scrutiny of visitors coming into the United States, two officials told ABC News.
The FBI, meanwhile, is "working sources" and taking other "logical steps" to monitor any potential threat, an FBI official said.

The terrorists are running around with rocket propelled missiles that Obama gave them!! That is what they are fearing and why the threat assessments to local law enforcement are classified IMHO.
Dunno but hopefully there will be some leaks soon about just what the Feds are telling local departments, etc.

A buddy of mine has gone for a month's training at Ft McCoy, WI, and was required to wear his ACUs when under official travel orders.
In the Old Corps, we had to wear Trops or Dress Greens while traveling under orders.
Times change.
Maybe the US State Department ought to stop giving ragheads visas and send the half wit apparatchiks who stand around 90% of the the other Federal agency’s doing nothing but collecting a paycheck after the muzzies that are here illegally and deport them.

But John Pistone, head of America’s Transportation Security Administration, revealed at a global security summit that the terrorist’s latest devices were “highly sophisticated and much harder to detect”.
According to Mr Pistone, al-Asiri’s latest attempt to blow up a commercial US jet last year involved an explosive “that we had never seen before, and that no machine or dog had been calibrated or trained to detect”.
He added that al-Asiri, a Saudi believed to be in Yemen, has also developed a “double initiation system” for his bombs, using two detonators instead of one.

Fires are still ongoing but won’t get here, too many miles away. The smoke, OTOH, is not nice at all. Burns the eyes, lungs, throat - day and night.
But - everything is temporary in this world.
Hopefully no more nutcases will start fires around here for a while, though. (The big ones were lightning apparently, but around our local valley there have been a lot of arson fires and idiot started by accident fires.)
