Hamas is Sunni, fighting Iran’s Shi’a Hezbollah inside Syria.

Any negotiation for money from Iran to Hamas would have strings attached such as the Hamas withdrawal from Syria.

Hamas has already been de-funded by Qatar and Egypt, and is being beaten inside Syria by Assad.

I agree with your summary. That is about it. The only thing I would add is that Hamas expected to get good funding from the Gulf States, as a reward for cutting off Iran in 2011. The money does not seem to have come through, and moreover, now Gaza is under seige from Egypt.
