Had someone like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush entered the 2012 Republican primary, Mitt Romney says he might not have entered the presidential race.
In an interview with Dan Balz for the Washington Post reporters soon-to-be released Collision 2012: Obama vs. Romney and the Future of Elections in America, Romney said that he would have seriously considered staying out of the presidential race if someone of Bushs caliber declared his candidacy.
I knew how grueling the process was, and I felt that there may be others who could be more effective in actually winning and then getting America on course, Romney told Balz.

The die is cast. Introducing the Republican Ticker for 2016: Bush/Rubio. You heard it here first!
Then Obama would’ve won by an even wider margin.
Damn...I wanted to be the first in with the WDDIM.
“The RNC gave us a real loser, we never had a chance.”
This is the same RNC who stuck us with Dole and McCain and Bush 41 — the good ol’ boys who paid their dues but were pathetic candidates. And Bush 43, an elitist doofus. And Romney, a borderline democrat.
We’re like the classic battered wife. We keep being abused by the RNC but stay in the relationship anyhow. At some point, enough is enough.
I couldn't give a flip what he says..............
I think we’re beginning to see the problem...
F-U Romney!!! the sad thing is you (Romney) would’ve made a very good president...
Watch out, South Carolina voters. If there are two or more conservative contenders in the race against Lindsay Graham, the incumbent will win the GOP primary.
The last time Republicans won the presidency without a Bush on the ticket was 1972!
FUBU
FU BUsh
and FUBO too
I hate to be negative, but history doesnt give me a lot of hope for a good candidate.

Does not really matter much, IMO, who the GOP candidate is; the Rats own the electoral process now. Election fraud will ensure that the next president will be whoever Soros wants it to be.
The RNC gave us a real loser, we never had a chance.
We had a slim chance after the first debate, but Ronmey chickened the hell out and went weak and that is when the Jackals attacked....
Agreed, but either would have been light-years ahead of the imbecile that we got. He11, Hillary would have been better.
Fact is, I think just about anybody with half a brain could, in less than an hour, come up with a better president than the POS we have in there now.
look, this is just romney’s sneaky (and mendacious)endorsement of the next bush for republican president. this just tells me he’s going to continue his players role in the GOPe. it also confirms that jeb will be the next nominee. he’s just doing his job for the party, that’s all.
“The RNC gave us a real loser, we never had a chance.”
Forget the RNC. They will do what they do.
It was our job to come up with a winner and we didn’t. :/
“Romney was left with the Rush-ism :When rich guys like us get tax cuts they you all are better off”
Well, at least that means he’s not that liberal. Not helpful but not exactly the sort of thing you’d expect from a committed Marxist.
“Gingrich wasnt a dud, but the way it worked with a crowded field, Romney got the majority. Just like Morsi in Egypt. While Obama didnt even have a primary.”
Come on..Newt was a dud along with Santorum and Perry. Oh and don’t forget Herman Cain.
“We had a slim chance after the first debate, but Ronmey chickened the hell out and went weak and that is when the Jackals attacked....”
Sandy/Christie didn’t exactly help
Romney had to give up his plan for reelection as Governor, and he crawled out of office with 34% approval, a failure, yet obsessively spent many years and many millions of his own money to control the presidential nomination process for two cycles, against the GOP and conservatism that he hated so much.
People don't know that Romney despised the right so much that he left the GOP when Reagan came to power in 1979, Romney in time came to support democrats, do democrat candidate and Planned Parenthood fund raising, and even voted democrat.
Gingrich was no dud, what killed him and signaled that Romney was to be the one, was the infamous “Bloody Thursday” in Florida, when the entire republican media machine was activated to stop him.
