In the wake of the verdict in the Trayvon Martin shooting, several teachers said they would invoke mob justice, vigilantism and the idea that Florida law allows people to hunt and kill black kids when discussing the case with their students.
The Hairpin, a prominent liberal womens blog, asked several teachers, counselors and professors to explain how they would talk about the case which reached its conclusion last week after George Zimmerman was found innocent of Martins murder in their classrooms.
An anonymous English teacher in Alabama said that she would be hesitant to formally teach the subject, but nonetheless thought it could be brought up in relation to vigilantism in literature such as To Kill A Mockingbird and the works of William Faulkner.
The thing is, I see Trayvon Martins everyday, wrote the teacher. I worry about young black men and their prospects in a world where a man is able to kill one without being convicted of something. Even if it isnt as simple as that, kids will see it that way. Rednecks are holding their heads a little higher and tapping the guns on their holsters eager for a stand your ground moment.
Some have alleged that Zimmerman killed Martin in an act of vigilante-style execution, though the jury ultimately acquitted him based on his self-defense claim. Zimmerman suffered bruises and cuts during the altercation, and said that Martin was on top of him and he feared for his life when he fired his gun.
Nevertheless, another teacher cited the verdict as evidence of the fact that Florida law allows people to hunt and kill black youth, and said that it was important to talk about it with students......

nah, we're just sitting back laughing at Detroit actually.
Well, I’d say Zimmerman was really lucky not to have any of these ignorant, imbecilic, liberal teachers on his jury.
Really lucky.
They'll only see it that way if that's the way all of you racist instigators present it.

Oh, gosh no. I’m just here eating my Skittles.
No wonder we’re falling behind China and other countries.
Instead of teaching the kids reading, writing, and arithmetic, these left-wing moonbat teachers are indoctrinating the kids with this left-wing bullcrap.
Home school.....the way to go.
I’m guessing most likely a black teacher or a white mandingo lover; either way both DemoRats.
Just some more of what I term, “educated fools.” God forbid they should let facts get in the way of their liberal agenda.
I just get so sick of their moronic viewpoint with little grasp on the real facts of this case.
We probably should let this die down, but how can it when there is so much misinformation out there and idiots are quick to parrot the left’s talking points? Are people this stupid that they can’t do their own research, rather than just believe what the lying liberal media spews? Apparently so. And to think that these teachers are held is such high esteem among the community when they themselves are so danged ignorant and should know better.
Self ping.
These same teachers, for the past 13 years have been teaching how Bush stole the election of 2000.
This is why they buried Lincoln’s body in a steel cage and poured 10 tons of concrete over it.
Thanks Abe
Some people are truly to ignorant to be allowed in public. Bring back Nut Houses!
The silver lining with these teachers is my first cousin.
She is an elementary school teacher on Long Island, New York. She has taught elementary school for many years, and she despises Obama. Her husband is conservative, too.
Last November, just after Superstorm Sandy knocked the New York area on it’s butt, my cousin told me she would swim to the polls on election day if she had to. She told me she wanted “Obama and his vacationing family GONE,” and said she wished she could vote for Romney twice.
America isn’t going to hell in a hand basket....
It;s in a UNION MEETING..
Before calling other people "to ignorant to be allowed in public," might I suggest a refresher course in fourth grade grammar: Correctly stated, that would be 'too ignorant to be allowed in public.' It's an error so common on this forum it's almost as epidemic as confusing lose and loose.
Bite me.
