Surveillance cameras caught a deadly confrontation outside a gas station in southeast Houston Sunday evening when a 23-year-old woman shot and killed a man with a rifle.
It happened at the Gulf station in the 6800 block of Cullen Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m., according to Houston police.
Video shows a woman, who was dressed in camouflage shorts and a white t-shirt, arguing with a man near the gas pumps. At some point, she pulled out a rifle from the trunk of her vehicle and pointed it at the man.
That is when the man took a swing at her, knocking her backward. The woman then aimed her rifle directly at him and fired off several rounds.
To witnesses surprise, she then pulled out her cell phone and recorded the body lying on the ground.
The victim, identified by family members as 58-year-old Lewis Daniel, died at the scene. A knife was also found on the ground near him, police said.

The photo probably shows the knife in addition to the dead perp.
But the shot schmuck had to have been terminally stupid, to keep on harassing AFTER the victim digs out a firearm. He received the appropriate punishment for stupidity....removal from the gene pool.
Agreed. Under the law, she is required to be a medical examiner, stopping after each shot to evaluate whether she has ended the immediate threat of death or serious bodily harm. As far as I'm concerned, as soon as the attacker (likely mentally ill, but that doesn't mean she's responsible for reading his mind and knowing both his current intentions and exactly how severely he has been injured by previous shots) waved a knife at her, she had the right to shoot until she felt safe.
Half U.S. Public: Yes, and your point is...?
>>She probably thought he would leave her alone once she had the rifle...but then he decided that once she armed herself he was going to attack.<<
Naw. He figured that Big Sis had all the ammo done bought up for her DHS and this ho didn’t have nuttin but an empty gun.
Lets not be too hasty to here. They might indeed want to get involved if only to claim that stand your ground laws were responsible in some way...
Lewis Daniel has had his Day.
Yep. As my favorite instructor used to say, "If it's worth shooting, it's worth shooting twice. You have to clean the gun anyway."
We could have an argument over whether the rifle was more deadly than a handgun would have been.
I was on a jury with a little black grandmother who had to explain the circumstances surrounding her (younger years)beating a guys ass and taking his gun and shooting him 3 times with it. She was seated (Dude tried to abduct her and her little girl).
More deadly is still dead, right?
She was probably recording the knife that was on the body or nearby, in case one of the guys friends removed it from the scene. Smart thinking....
Dayum! I bet she didn’t take any mess from her kids!
if it was a 10-22, as another poster suggested, then it was necessary to put more than one .22 round in him.
Notice how the media love to use the word “toting” when describing a person possessing a gun? As if there’s a negative connotation to the word “toting”.
Do we ever hear them describe liberal protesters as sign “toting”?
Or the guy who carries the nuclear football, ever heard of him “toting” it?
Or passengers carrying luggage. Never read about passengers “toting” their luggage through the airport.
Trayvon Martin case to go to grand jury to examine shooting death by George Zimmerman
Okay, I stand corrected. While the case was referred to a grand jury, the special prosecutor (Angel Corey) dismissed the use and opted for direct prosecution.
Thank you for the clarification, LTC. My recollection was only correct by half, if that.
