The defense fought the prosecution to keep at least two of them on the panel.

Even if Zimmerman is convicted, the appeals court will toss out the conviction. At a minimum, they would grant a retrial based on procedural errors, evident trial court judge bias, and withholding of evidence; especially the Trayvon phone records and texts.

In the very recent past, a Tennessee Court of Appeals threw out a first degree murder conviction. Grounds were that the judge failed to act as the 13th juror in allowing the case to go to the jury. The appeals court ruled that the State had failed to produce sufficient evidence for the jury to even deliberate on.
