If you read the official statement, you understand it's what they believe we want. They also know the law requires that the executive branch do this, and that we don't trust that branch at all.

Don't give up yet, keep the pressure on.

Anything they pass is a trojan horse for the Senate bill. We are much better off if nothing is passed.

“Just secure the damned border, you morons.”

Just enforce the existing laws. No new laws are needed.

Why is it that every time I hear about joint committees or joint statements which come from these maroons, this is the type of joint which comes to mind?

Yup. We don’t even want to hear about reform till we see tangible evidence that the border is secure and our laws are being enforced.

Then we can talk about reform.

Yes, secure the borders.

But also abolish the absurd Diversity Visa Lottery.

And abolish chain migration by limiting family-based immigration to spouses and minor children.

And restrict (to the point of nearly abolishing) the refugee settlements.

And make sure that any Guest Worker Program is truly what it is advertised as. That means the guests are truly guests, and must return home, and are not given a separate path to citizenship, and are not allowed to bring family with them into the United States.

And enact strict bans on immigrants receiving public assistance.

And take action to forbid racial preferences, or at least restrict immigrants from receiving them.

And practice years of vigorous interior and border enforcement to see how many illegals will self-deport.

That’s all a fantasy I know, but it would be a superior version of comprehensive immigration reform. It would be conservative immigration reform.
