If there was going to be new riots in Detroit, it would have been over the Emergency Manager takeover by the state.

It was close to rioting in the early 90's with the police beating death of Malice Green, but that was local and right after Rodney King.

I hear ya, but it still seems strange. My experience — granted 35 yrs ago — was a lot of racial discord. Plus, a lot of leftist strategists/brainiacs...think WU or SDS. Didn’t one of those groups originate in Port Huron? Maybe Det is just where “they” send out the leftist marching orders!
