How the GOP Could Win the Climate Debate
Real Clear Science ^ | July 10, 2013 | Eric Bradenson

Someone in the GOP needs to say it: conservation is conservative; climate change is real; and conservatives need to lead on solutions because we have better answers than the other side.

For years I've been astounded that free market economics people haven't jumped on this. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that global warming is real and man-made, this means we need to improve the efficiency with which we use resources. The only ways this has ever been done successfully is with free markets. Central planning inevitably leads to waste and environmental damage (e.g., China and the old Soviet Union).

Specifically, if global warming is real and man-made, this is an argument for doing away with the central planners like the Green Movement and the Democratic Party.

Welcome King Barack "Canute" Obama the Great.....

...Obama issues an Executive Order to the Sun...

....to increase it's magnetic field....

and make a good crop of sunspots before elections in 2016....

(PhysOrg.com) -- Sunspot formation is triggered by a magnetic field, which scientists say is steadily declining. They predict that by 2016 there may be no remaining sunspots, and the sun may stay spotless for several decades.

The last time the sunspots disappeared altogether was in the 17th and 18th century, and coincided with a lengthy cool period on the planet known as the Little Ice Age....and lasted 400 years.

Good luck surviving with no electricity and GE modified seeds.

Oh, I believe climate change is real. What I don’t believe is that human activity has any significant influence on it.

Or how ‘bout we tell everyone the truth:
Global warming is a crock of $hit.

Why capitulate?

The left just uses GW as a way of raising taxes and limiting production.

It’s a simple message. Why lie?

Plenty of republicans are already on board with “free market” solutions like carbon trading, windmills, and carbon sequestration. They make money hand over fist with those “solutions” and we the people get screwed.

But ...

AGW due to human-origin greenhouse gasses has NOT been demonstrated empirically. Greenhouse gasses are supposed to warm the ATMOSPHERE and that simply has not happen.

Most all the surface temp readings are so arbitrary and even ‘normed’ (read manipulated) as to be meaningless and biased as well.

AGW is brought to you by the same people who cannot predict the path of a tropical cyclone with observable facts in hand.

The earth has been warming and cooling periodically for over four billion years. What else is new ?

No one seems to be reading the article. The point here is that even if global warming were real and man-made, the wrong people are using the issue to promote their economic policies.

Stop arguing that there is a problem.

Instead you point out in graphic detail the costs to the lives of ordinary people of the “solutions” and add the fact that the “solutions” do NOTHING solve problem.

The notion of “man-made” climate change is nonsense invented by the anti-industrial, population control crowd, to further their agenda.

This writer has no grasp of unintended consequences. If the government sets up a ‘market’ which trades on things who’s only value is artificially set by the government, it has nothing to do with a free market. Anyone who imagines otherwise is deluding themselves.

Sure, some people would make mints on such a thing, but they would be trading tulips (see Dutch Tulip Crisis).

Global warming is a massive fraud, but even if it were not, these nonsensical carbon markets are a sop to sucker in free market people. Europe has one of these running. You might want to look into how it is doing (hint, not well).

The climate has been changing for billions of years and will continue to change for billions more and there isn’t a damn thing humans can do to stop it. Anyone who proposes a “solution” to climate change is a blithering idiot, regardless of his political leanings.

If we have to continue to buy into blatantly false premises to win elections, we are DOOOOOOOMED anyway.

It seems the left is refusing to call the problem what it really is. Air Pollution and Water Pollution.

If they use that instead of climate change, China, Russia, the Middle East, Venezuela and Mexico would have to stop all production. By using Climate Change, they can attack the US.

We need to change the paradigm.

I skimmed the article enough to know his premise:

Global warming is real (wrong, ZERO warming for the past 15 years, zilch, nothing, nada).

IF it (this made up, unscientific proposition that the earth is getting warmer) is man made, we should use conservative economic principles to deal with it.

I'm sorry, the premise is from la la land. It's not real, it's demonstrably not real, and all we have to do is start repeating that one fact.

CO2 us NOT air pollution, its plant food and a critical component of the atmosphere. If we call it pollution then we are being just as stupid as the libs. The conservative solution to this mess is to continue to reject AGW as nonsense until it finally sinks in or the fools move on to another invented catastrophe.

Climate change might be underway, but it is not man-made. Evidence of climate change has been observed on Mars and Jupiter (shrinking ice caps and changing storm patterns, respectively). The sun drives climate change, not human activity.

It may be easier to stipulate that climate change is real and anthropogenic, but to do so would be promulgating a lie.
