Today, July 10th, is DAY #22 (of 5th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.
Yesterday began with a boom as defense expert witness, world renowned Dr Vincent Di Maio took to the stand to validate the forensic evidence supporting George Zimmermans version of the encounter with Trayvon Martin. However, the day ended with an even bigger THUNDERCLAP in an epic 10pm showdown as Don West took on both the State prosecutors and trial Judge Nelson after the jury was released. Ending with Judge Nelson, turning her back and walking out of court. Unreal. A great analysis of the events from yesterday is available HERE.
The late night argument, not by the State, but by Judge Nelson herself, regarding phone evidence authentication, is so weak and insufferably devoid of legal analysis it is absurd on its face. Then again, this is the same judge who said a few days ago, flippantly in open court, that evidence should be shredded (Dr. Bao notes) after use. Doh
Essentially Nelson argued that the phone records (texts and pics from Trayvon) cannot be authenticated to have originated by the specific personage of Trayvon Martin (despite two security codes) because anyone could have sent them. Whiskey*Tango*Foxtrot !!
How can an email be used in a sex offender case? How can phone records be used in RICO cases? How can GPS evidence be used in Insurance Cases? How are photographs taken by perps used against them? Think about it.
You cant argue that evidence cannot be admitted because someone else might have made the actual phone call; Someone else might have physically sent the email; Someone else actually accessed the website; Someone else might have been the driver of the car; Or, someone else could possibly have been behind the viewing lens of the camera etc.
No, that argument does not mean you can arbitrarily exclude evidence. And this was the basis for her argument (watch the video).
Sure, thats an argument which can be presented to the jury by the other side, as a counter point to create doubt with the jury, but it cant be a reasonable consideration for total evidence exclusion. Then again, this is Judge Nelson who in multiple prior cases has a high historical propensity of being overruled by the 5th District Court of Appeals.
It should be noted the NAACP Annual National Convention starts in Orlando on Friday; Additionally, preparations are being made in/around Miami-Dade for a Wednesday defense wrapped up with a community/LEO preparation meeting yesterday.
>There will be at least one who wants to convict.
Heh, if my wife was on the jury she’d be the one. I think the odds are good there is a full moon bat on that jury and I know a lot about them. They will not let him walk period.
I’m outraged that the state’s witnesses get paid. . .given their lack of professional competence and language skills.
I've been PO'ed ever since this debacle began. Actually, I've been seriously PO'ed since Odumba%% got elected President, but that's another story.
Witness will NOT be cowed by the State, which is getting no where.
I don’t think this Guy guy knows how bad he is coming off. He makes this personal and all he does in deal out speculation, he is also badgering the witness...yet he squeals like a stuck pig if anyone else speculates on the defense side.
got it
MOM watching the crash dummy pros was laughing over his laying the on the floor demonstrating 90 degree angles with a firearm.
Some probably thought the Hispanic juror might be the one but she learned immediately that he was Hispanic, not white.
I was away (work) and missed this portion. Did the judge ask George WHY he will not take the stand?
I saw that but I’m talking about the Black Panthers threats.
is his voice completely condescending and rude? he doesn’t as ONE question that doesn’t completely grate on your nerves.

#zimmermantrial Jeebus, doesn’t Guy have even ONE friend in that courtroom willing to save him? INTERVENTION! http://www.lawofselfdefense.com
Objection and strike!
True, but the message to GZ would have been loud and clear to GZ. Don’t answer da judge with a yes or a no. As GZ’s legal counsel, they have the right to do that. Especially if or when the judge is browbeating their client.
I love Guy laying on the floor while the witness is talking “down” to him. LOL Root is excellent and refuses to be manipulated.
He should have made it home
Guy asked one question too many
Always looking for the GOTCHA moment. He is absurd.
Direct hit, Root gets to speculate why could not Trademark make it home quickly.
This guy is a very good witness. Very knowledgable.
“And back to the 90 degree thing. Geez!”
Lying down like an idiot.
I always wish that people like the prosecutors, the judge, and Corey are placed in a situation like Zimmerman was. I don’t wish harm on people, but karma is a bitch...as they say, and these people are pure evil.
