Just In Case George Zimmerman Walks Free... by Russell Simmons
Global Grind ^ | July 9, 2013 | Russell Simmons

Posted on 07/09/2013 12:20:14 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Like so many people across the country, I have followed the murder trial of George Zimmerman very closely. As we enter what is probably the last week of the trial, I am sure that everyone is anxious about the outcome. For the past sixteen months, I have proudly supported the courageous parents of Trayvon Martin as they have fought for justice for their son. I have greatly admired the grace and humility that they have exuded throughout this entire tragic ordeal. For them, the day of judgement in the courtroom will be a very difficult day and I certainly will say a prayer for them when that day comes.

Even with this important day coming soon, I remind myself that we have already accomplished a tremendous amount in the memory of Trayvon. All we ever asked for was for equal justice for the young man who was killed that drizzling night in Sanford, Florida. If George Zimmerman had rights, so did Trayvon Martin. And that is why Mr. Zimmerman was properly arrested and charged with murder in the second degree. He will soon be judged by a jury of his peers, and that is the best we can do. Whatever decision they make, is a decision that we must live with, whether we like it or not. Whether George Zimmerman is found innocent or guilty by the jury, I am firm believer that all of us live by karmic law, and he will ultimately be punished for the death of Trayvon, no matter what. However, if he walks free out of that courtroom, I understand that some people will be very sad, but we must remember the mission we are on. As I have heard Trayvon's parents say time and time again, they are not only fighting for justice for their son, they are fighting for all of us, especially those parents who have to live through the misery of burying their child and the sadness that comes after.

Their inspiring leadership has already led to action. In 2012, for the first time in 8 years, not ONE state in our nation passed a new "Stand Your Ground" law. The power of the NRA and their gun-toting cronies in business were stopped in their tracks by the Justice For Trayvon Martin movement. That is an incredible accomplishment. That is the mission we must continue after this trial is over. Led by the heroism of Trayvon's parents, we will support their efforts to not only block new laws from being enacted, but also repeal the laws in the twenty five states who already passed "Stand Your Ground" type legislation. And we will certainly support their healing process, as they have become great protectors of our nation's compassion. It is the future that needs to be protected and everyone who stood up for Trayvon plays a part in that protection. If we failed to protect Trayvon on February 26, 2012, we will pledge to never make that mistake again.

Never we will stop fighting for justice for Trayvon, guilty verdict or acquittal, as our work will never be done!

Just like using the “n” word, only blacks are allowed to kill other blacks.

All others must die in place...

The thing I have noticed is most blacks have an Urban attitude about crime: “It’s none of my business.” That’s their big hangup about GZ getting out of his car to watch and see what this stranger was up to. “Was he bothering GZ? Then it was none of business.” and “He deserved an *ss-whoopin for not minding his own business.” Black people do not get involved. They do not help the police. They do not call the police unless something involves them personally. That’s why so many black people simply can not wrap their heads around the idea of a man stopping and getting out of his car to look investigate something or someone suspicious. You just don’t do that. To them that is just strange and indicates something is wrong with a person who would do that.

This is different from a Rural attitude. People notice things are out of place and wonder what’s up. They’ll even stop to say ‘Hi’ to a stranger and casually mine for info about what this person is doing around their neighbor’s place. Or they might call the police and say they keep seeing a strange car driving around.

As I have heard Trayvon’s parents say time and time again, they are not only fighting for justice for their son, they are fighting for all of us,..................... “U$” mainly in the 1st person plural. Wait till George gets his millions in settlement from the MSM, Trayvon’s mom is really going to have a $chitfit. IMHO, its not a case of denial by the parents, its a case of how much $$$$ can I get out of it.

Is Russell so stupid that he thinks that black people are being killed by the stand your ground law? Thousands of black people are being killed each year by the hip hop culture he is part of. These people don't want justice, they want to disarm victims and make them easy prey for the thugs of society.

Exactly what rights are the St. Martinites fighting for?

  1. The right to walk around unchallenged in gated communities while they go off sidewalks, peer in windows and carry burglar tools?
  2. The right to beat to a pulp any person who challenges said right (as long as they are lighter skinned)?
  3. The right not to be followed while they engage in suspicious and deviant behavior?

The main thing is that they are all married. Married women are overwhelmingly conservative.

This is really not a bad thing to say.

And this is what I have been saying lately. If you go back in time to when this fecal matter first hit the oscillating rotatory device that is the twitterverse - the cause celebre was that there was no fact finding process - that the optics were such that the cracker white PD let the cracker white shooter waltz out of there no questions asked.

Of course, in time, it’s morphed into a replay as farce of the OJ trial with much invested in the outcome of the process - not that there was in fact a process.

I say mixed in with some of the obligatory race pimp rhetoric that there is a kernel of wisdom (or a dose of reality - take your pick) in these comments.

At the very beginning the outrage in the “community” was that no arrest was made and no charges filed.

Well an arrest *was* made, charges *were* filed, and in fact the trial is about to conclude.

The voice of reason would conclude that this is what was required at the outset - everyone got their day in court.

My fear is that all of this gets lost in the whole “yay for our side, bronx cheer for yours” that our domestic politics has descended into.

justice for their son

Justice came when he was shot by an armed citizen protecting himself from a wannabe gangsta.

LOL! Quite a long statement for a rapper. I notice at no
time does he ask for no violence, which in and of itself is
a dogwhistle. You know they want it.

Colorado isn’t on that list because we don’t need such a law. Nothing in our laws say we must be cowards and run.
