Liberals are very excited that Texas Governor Rick Perry decided not to run for a full fourth term. But a closer examination of jobs number shows that if not for Perry, Obamas job record would be a worse joke than what it already is.
From the start of February 2009 (Obamas first full month in office) through the end of May 2013 (the last month there is available Federal data for jobs per state) the United States had a net gain of 2,076,000 jobs. In the same time, Texas had a net gain of 882,582 jobs. In other words, 43% of the net job gains since Obamas first full month in office are from Texas. This is a major success for Perry considering that his State has less than 7% of the overall U.S. population.
Those jobs numbers are from the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics so there is no room for the Left to argue that the Texas numbers are no good. And the breakdown is as follows:
11,082,548 were employed in Texas at the start of February 2009. The number rose to 11,965,130 at the end of May 2013; a net gain of 882,582 jobs. Nationwide, 133,631,000 (133.63 million) were employed at the start of February 2009, and the number rose to 135.7 million at the end of May; a growth of 2.076 million jobs.
Indeed, Texas is the second largest in terms of the U.S. population but with 26 million people it is as written above less than 7% of the overall U.S. population but again 43% of Obamas job growth.
Democrats may try to claim that its not fair to count Obamas first year in office on his watch because he inherited a mess from Bush. Well, in this case I guess the 3.7 million jobs added in Carters first year is the credit of Ford. Right? and the 2.5 million jobs added in Bill Clintons first year is the credit of Bush Senior. Right? And the 1.7 million jobs lost in Bushs first year is the fault of Clinton. Right?
Obama’s wreckovery overwhelmingly occurred in red states...
Saw a sport news story here in Florida, Tampa this morning, ch 13 Fox Local.
Idiots.
They were comparing attendance to the Tampa baseball team vs. Washington D.C.’s team. They could not explain why D.C. averages 36,000 a game and Tampa has fallen to under 18,000 a game.
Hey MSM idiots. Overpaid federal workers and ones that take sick days to go to games. vs. Tampa area where people have to work two jobs to make ends meet and don’t have time or money for game attendance.
Simple, but not a chirp.
Federal workers are full time at 35 hours, pay and benefits galore, no need for second job.
Tampa workers forced by private employers to be part time for less hours, and have to work the two jobs.
The down side of Perry’s come to Texas tour is that people we don’t want are coming. Austin and Dallas tech areas are bursting with liberal Gen Y’ers and Indian visa holders. I sit around and listen to them talk trash about everything that makes Texas great while they suck on the latte swill or vitamin water.
Amen to that!
They moved into Colorado and ruined that state...Texas has a lot more people that may help...the state needs a reeducation plan???
Bump
The New York Times will NOT EVER print this story... NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER...
Yep, welcome to Berkley East
We've had three new neighbors move into vacant homes the past few weeks. One was from Georgia, one from Michigan and the other from Houston. The two out of state both drive at least one SUV with conservative bumper stickers (DON'T TREAD ON ME).
The lady from Houston (across the street) listens to Rush and has a Gadsden flag in her garage. I saw another moving truck starting to unload with out of state plates today. Hope they are conservative too.
Don’t forget San Antonio and Houston. SA recently went blue.
There are different flavors of Conservative. I have neighbors that claim to be conservative, but their political leaning is definitely lib.
The problem is (and I haven’t looked at THIS report) most of these so called jobs Texas has created are part time gigs at places like Walmart, McDonalds, and God knows where else. They aren’t full time jobs that can support a family.
All these reports talk about “jobs”. You need to look deeper into the BLS reports. They’ll show even when “jobs” increase, the net effect is a LOSS in full time jobs. Those are the jobs being “converted” to part time jobs, with no medical benefits, less than 30 hours, and weaker pay. It’s the by-product of a crappy economy and the loophole diving to get out of as many Obamacare provisions as possible. (i.e. Denny’s etc..)
Thanks Hojczyk.
Odds are at least 35% are govt jobs = bureaucrats.
We have some like that too. One guy down the street voted for 0 bummer for the health care overhaul. At least his wife canceled his vote.
