The Feds would turn it into a civil rights case...conspiring to deprive Trayvon of his civil rights under color of state law.

Mississippi Burning was a movie loosely based on the murder, in the 60’s of 3 civil rights workers. The feds brought the killers to trial for conspiring to deprive the murdered of their civil rights.

More to the point, when the cops were acquitted in the Rodney King case, the feds brought civil rights action against the cops and the cops were found guilty.

That comparison is better than the lame comparison with the OJ criminal/civil trials and Zimmerman’s case.

However, I maintain that the balance of evidence in the King case was worlds apart from the balance of evidence in Z’s case. Which is to say, in the King case the prosecution, and then the feds, had *something*. In the Z case, the pro’s got NUTHIN’. Literally, nuthin’.

It’s not enough to just bring charges — the feds would also have to prove them. WITHOUT calling Zimmerman to the stand. What new evidence would they bring to light that would change the picture and prove their charges? Or novel new argument on the existing evidence? I don’t see it.

Ok so let me try to understand. Say George zimmerman is found not guilty... Period... (Which I sure hope for...) he can get tried in federal court for taking martins civil rights. Well if we was found guilty in this trial it would be for murder 2 and lets say he’s get about like 30 plus years to life. If and when he is found not guilty for this murder 2 case and he is innocent for that I know he cannot be tried for that again.. Double jeopardy... So what would he be indicted in federal court for.. I understand civil liberties is what everyone is saying but what is he exact charge they’d try to get him for and if they do what is the prison sentence for it!???????

The feds brought the killers to trial for conspiring to deprive the murdered of their civil rights....In Hazleton, PA a jury of 12 acquitted some guys of murder of beating an illegal immigrant to death. If the illegal hadn’t been here and started a fight, he wouldn’t have been beaten to death. Case closed. The Feds said “F...you white people.” and tried these guys who got convicted. Courts mean nothing, anymore, until the government gets what it wants.
