People will listen to him but he only has one shot... impress or lose. He has a long way to go... slow on his feet... mitt was awful and he beat Perry hands down. He needs to know everything that FReepers know... and that is everything. He will have one short window and it will be gone forever. Conservatism had better flow from him like a fountain and it better be heartfelt and confidence building. If we get triple speak obfuscation on questions like border security and amnesty... well you know.

Cruz will probably stay in the Senate... if he does not run for President. I do not believe that Cruz is in politics for personal gain and I think he will never take a job as a stepping stone to power, fame and wealth. He has shown no acclimation to do those sorts of things... things that are directly responsible for the corruption and idiocy in our government today.

Perry took a lot of undeserved heat over Gardisil. The number of people it can save is uncountable

More than 100 million died during the last century because people in power (like Perry) knew just how to make them safer, and forced them to do just that.

Perry didn't get near the heat he deserved.

“Fox news is watched by more americans than any other media.”

http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/fox-news-tops-all-cable-for-1st-time-since-2005/

Fox’s primetime average was 1,889,000 total viewers for the quarter, a 5 percent uptick from last year’s second quarter. In the key demo, Fox dropped off 11 percent from the second quarter of 2012, averaging 317,000 viewers in the demo.

http://stateofthemedia.org/2012/network-news-the-pace-of-change-accelerates/network-by-the-numbers/

In the evening, an average of 22.5 million people watched one of the three commercial broadcast evening news programs on ABC, CBS or NBC. That was an increase of 4.5% or 972,700 viewers, from 21.6 million in 2010. And all three networks saw viewership increase, according to Nielsen Media Research.

I agree re: white trash sleaze ...they use it as though it is their top selling product. And the morning cast I cannot abide by. Those people are low hanging fruit. aka...idiots.

I stopped years ago also. They pander to people who have iq’s a little beneath room temperature. And unfortunately, I have not forgotten Perry as a national candidate. It is a painful memory.

Preachin’ to the choir. I can hold my nose and vote better than anyone. But their is a group of the conservative base who will stay home if a RINO is the candidate. I too wish a genuine constitutional conservative could make it through the primaries. We need to either get control of the party or form a new one. Sarah Palin is talking about a new party. I will back her if she does.

The thing is people on FR had called Perry “Governor Goodhair” and lightweight for some time before he ran for President.

I really had an open mind. He entered the primary late and was 10%+ up in the polls. Then came the “heartless” comment and his love of illegals sank him. He never apologized or took back the comment and he was gone in a month.

Nobody from Texas who was familiar with Perry was surprised about the "heartless" comment. Nobody.

I agree, he’s a true Right to Lifer, we complain about politicians but a few stick their necks out for us on issues such as RP is doing. I wouldn’t be critical. Of course, we all weigh it on our own personal judgement on what is in a person’s heart.

Well I am not from Texas and the comment killed any chance of support for him from me. That’s why I aid many here on FR were already down on him. I learned why.

That weirdo Kinky won’t even get the rat nomination, he’s not marxist enough for them.

No, he’s not the longest serving Governor in history. Not even close.

If he finishes his term he’ll be 10th, just 2 days ahead of Tommy Thompson and just behind Nelson Rockefeller.

http://blog.lib.umn.edu/cspg/smartpolitics/2013/04/the_top_50_longest_serving_gov.php

The longest total service record belongs to current Iowa Governor Terry Branstad (R), he served 4 terms straight (16 years, that’s the most consecutively as well) and is now in his 5th non-consecutive term. Branstad’s record is probably as safe as Joe DiMaggio’s hit streak.

The “people” did decide and their decision was to vote for Rick Perry, again and again and even after his Gardisil cowpie.

It is not possible for any politician to do whatever every group wants. The pro-HPV anti-vaccination group is very small, but once they incited enough regular citizens against Gradisil, Perry pulled it.

Joe DiMaggio was an Italian-American and played baseball.

Later in life he was featured in many advertisements, including Wachovia Bank and Mr. Coffee.

Rick Perry campaigned for the most liberal Republican in 2008, a guy who was more liberal than Romney.

Lol, so you are telling me Rick Perry is NOT a conservative? What a world.

It was very amusing to me watching the Rudy Giuliani supporters being banned, and then a few years later seeing Rick Perry supporters defending Perry's support of Giuliani, even though some of those very same folks cheered on the bannings of FR Giuliani supporters.

The irony that Perry would have been banned if he were a FReeper was not lost on me, but was lost on many of his supporters.

Would you have a problem if Obama signed an executive order mandating the Gardasil vaccine without any discussion with Congress or the American people?

Would you raise any eyebrows if Obama's former Chief of Staff was a Merck lobbyist, and his current Chief of Staff's mother-in-law was running a group paid for by Merck to lobby for it?
