Multiple eyewitnesses saying it clipped the seawall, then pancaked.

Horizontal groundloop; not cartwheel.

Thank you, Steve86. What is a horizontal groundloop?

Maybe so (regarding the altimeter) but the weather looks perfect there today from that picture. If they were doing a non-ILS approach you’d think the flying pilot would have had his head up looking at the runway and see he was low. Or if they were on an ILS approach, the GPWS would have been screaming “GLIDESLOPE” at them.
Then again, if they were landing on the wrong runway (28L instead of 28R or vice versa?) they couldn’t have been doing an ILS or it would have been patently obvious from miles out that they weren’t lined up.

The ILS is turned off because both 28L and 28R are undergoing a runway marking repaint and (I believe) a minor change to the touchdown zone position. It is clearly described in SFO Notice to Airman. Nothing to do with sequestration. Everything to do with the Asiana pilots not fully studying their paperwork and perhaps the SFO Tower not providing enough extra diligence for a foreign carrier. By the way, the weather here at SFO airport is beautiful. You can't ask for a more optimum condition for landing than today. I am a B-777 pilot based at SFO.
My sister is listening to KFI in LA, where a caller claiming to be a commercial pilot said ILS is turned off as a cost-savings due to the sequester. Anything to this?

Just spinning around horizontally on the ground. It spun at least 180 degrees.

Aww, that’s okay, thanks for looking. I thought I was on top of all their latest jackbooted thuggery strategies :0)
That’s just crazy... plus, I think it can be food-induced... and in today’s garbage food, well..

Obama is out playing golf....he could care less!!! Obama is more concerned with his Muslim Brotherhood, brother, Morsi in Egypt and American gays...as noted by Black, Professor, Cornel West (Harvard) who recently stated “Obama cares more about Gays....then he does about his own Black folk”!!!

You can plainly see the fire started from the starboard engine on the ground. Nothing blew up. No bombs. No crazies.

Just spinning around horizontally on the ground.Torsional inertia to be expected in California. Whenever a right wing Korean jet lands in California, they need to compensate for all the loose nuts that rolled over to the Left Coast because it's so tilted.

Knock on Wood, but commerical air flight has become unbelievably safe in the past 20 years (minus 9-11). When I was a kid, it seemed you used to hear about crashes all the time.
