Egypt: Government Considering Disbanding Muslim Brotherhood

Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi has proposed the legal dissolution of the Muslim Brotherhood and the idea is being studied by the government, a government spokesman said Aug. 17, AP and Reuters reported. Brotherhood leaders directed supporters to attack state institutions and block roads, a government spokesman said. The Brotherhood has demonstrated an ability to weather far worse suppression, but this time it is facing a different sort of crisis — one that could strip its status as Egypt’s largest political movement.
If the new government does not make the MB illegal, they are knowingly committing suicide and damning Egypt to vicious civil war.
