SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP)
(Excerpt) Read more at mlive.com ...
Ya know, knives over 3 inches are not allowed in Detroit.
You have to defend yourself with SOMETHING.
“Gosh, maybe they ought to make some gun control laws since it's human nature to throw away your gun when you realize that your victims are unarmed.”
What?!?!?!
They have gun control laws....and there is still crime? How can that possibly be? The politicians have been telling us for years what a utopia it would be if only the guns were outlawed.
Well, well, well, a lying politician. Who would've thunk it?
You could’ve knocked me over with the Statue of Liberty.
Seems like a wise choice in that war zone of a city............
Open carry is legal in Detroit.
Shelby Twp. is near where I live and way north of Detroit.......
Some folks never bother to actually read the article, so they think that this happened in Detroit based on the headline. They cannot be dissuaded by numerous comments pointing out their error. Of course, they don’t bother to read other comments either, so it’s really no surprise.
It was Fourth of July night and the guy was probably celebrating Independence Day along with all the other fireworks going on at the time.
Fireworks are permitted in Detroit on the Fourth of July aren’t they?
I have the local ABC news on in the background and they aired a tease on the vehicle and gun, they'll give the full report during the 6:00 p.m. hour...........
From what I saw, your assessment was spot on........
Last night he and his buddies took it out on the road while all the neighborhood fireworks were going off and somebody panicked and called the cops on him.
Considering the nature of the machinegun shooting, I suppose I would have called the cops too but only to to protect the guy against return fire.
The cops in turn should have just intercepted him and told him to get his vehicle off the road and back into his yard but no, they had to arrest him.
Having grown up in a rural community in northern MI, the later would have happened but in this upscale community of Macomb County, the cops had to do what they had to do........
Another article says the police had numerous calls from people saying that someone was firing the gun at people, while the vehicle was being driven down the street.
Even on Independence day, that might be said to be disturbing the peace.
It appears that this is not that clear cut, because the only offence mentioned is a fireworks offence.

I personally would have enjoyed it a great deal but yes, its best that the neighbors know what’s going on first.
Firing a fifty while driving down the street would draw attention and be disturbing the peace, even on the 4th of July.
“Firing a fifty while driving down the street would draw attention and be disturbing the peace, even on the 4th of July.”
From the articles I am not at all sure of what happened. It may be that someone was manning the machinegun, and people thought it was fireing because of the fireworks going off.
These machines are not cheap. I hope it will all be cleared up shortly.
It was no longer a .50 cal but rather converted to a compressed gas powered flame and banger................
This was probably my brothers boss. He’s got several vehicles fitting the description and lives in Shelby area.
It happened at least 20 miles north of Detroit.
