“I live in a community of nearly a 1,000 homes, was president of the HOA for several years, and have traveled every street in the community. If I were out on certain streets in this community at night as to where I could not see certain street signs, there would be streets I could not specify the name of those streets off the top of my head,...”

I was the head of security for my gated community years ago and stopped by the security gate to see if all was well and the guard said the ambulance had come in and couldn’t find the house and they were going up and down streets tying to find it.

I was on my way to town at that time and went to Radio Shack and bought a police scanner. Put that at the gate along with a stack of maps of the roads and houses, so the guard could hear if an ambulance had been called, then mark a map and hand it to the ambulance driver when they came in, plus hand another marked map to police car when it came in.

I thought it was tragic am ambulance couldn’t find a person in need and I fixed that.

Excellent idea!

We should do this in my community. Street signs and street numbers are so unavailable its difficult to find where you are and difficult to find what you seek.

Fortunately, the fire station is just a corner around from our street - they know where they can find us. Others, maybe not so much.
