At times of peak demand for electricity, do you want your refrigerator to run at the discretion of the power company?

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has revised its Energy Star energy-efficiency requirements for residential refrigerators, and it is encouraging the inclusion of “connected” features that respond to utility signals to curb their energy consumption.

The EPA announced the new requirements on June 27. Included is the optional “smart-grid” connection for customers to electronically connect their refrigerator or freezer with a utility provider. …

They insist it isn’t a ‘fine’ but only a ‘fee.

I told them a ‘fee’ is something you pay for something you get - to have to pay for something you neither want nor get is a FINE.

I make out 2 checks a month to pay my bill - one for actual use and one for $12 and labeld “for FINE” -

they hate me ;o)

Those electric companies better prepare for the law suits.

Heck, wait until they decide you don’t need your medical devices using precious power. Or people die because there’s no heat in the winter or A/C in 110 degree summers. The idiots here decided to cut the electricty in segments around the area a couple of winters ago during temps in the teens to save power. They “forgot” to turn ours back on and it took them until the evening to get it back on because they were busy fixing transformers that blew when they were turned back on. We’re already having problems this summer with it going out several times a day. It keeps blowing breakers so I figure we’ll end up having to buy new appliances or something. Idiots!

Give them a few years and I’m sure they’ll quickly hit $20 or $30 per month to opt out.

A few years? They just installed my Southern California Edison "Big Brother" meter 6 months ago and from the git-go it cost $35/mo. to opt out. In a few years it'll be $100/mo. or more here. I'd love to leave this insane state but...it's complicated.

Gore uses his share plus a few dozen more homes’ energy for his mansion.

giving cheap energy to the people is like giving an idiot child a machine gun, so sayeth John P Holdren’s Idol...

Conservatives keep trying to kick the Left's football. It isn't about "climate change" or "global warming," and it isn't about conserving energy. It never has been. It's about *control.* The Left is totalitarian by instinct. This is how death camps and gulags begin.

Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

Of course he likes heat. It's his natural habitat in hell.

“I was talking to parents while in PA this past weekend and found out the Amish have refrigerators that run on propane. Love to find me one.”

Absorption systems. Motor homes and camp trailers have had them for decades.

This could end up with a lot of sour milk.

And other rotten meats and dairy products - must be a back-door Farm Bill.

Hussein rules the country - the constitution is useless when the ruler ignores it. The EPA will cut off your power if Hussein says do it.

If we don’t revolt soon, we won’t have enough strength and electric power left to do it.

I agree.

Well now, it seems the ‘smart meters’ weren’t just about efficiency and saving money with meter readers after all...

Told ya...

Yup. Another conspiracy theory turns into conspiracy fact.

I posted a couple of articles about the potential for smart meters being used to actively monitor and control individual consumers' power usage, and was laughed at by over half the posters on those threads.

With this administration, the far out and unbelievable has become fact.

I’d rather pay meter readers if it was all the same.

I question if we’re being told the truth about EMF safety now as well. Would the PTB’s tell us the truth about health effects from technology they were using to track the herd? I’m not betting they would.

It’s not like they really care about us or anything. Their only motive lately is making sure there are fewer of us.
