At times of peak demand for electricity, do you want your refrigerator to run at the discretion of the power company?

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has revised its Energy Star energy-efficiency requirements for residential refrigerators, and it is encouraging the inclusion of “connected” features that respond to utility signals to curb their energy consumption.

The EPA announced the new requirements on June 27. Included is the optional “smart-grid” connection for customers to electronically connect their refrigerator or freezer with a utility provider. …

I saw someone attach a running blow drier on a coke machine with a temperature sensor that based the price on the temperature.
You could rig something similar to keep a thermostat sensor artificially high, so they think your AC isn’t on.

I was talking to parents while in PA this past weekend and found out the Amish have refrigerators that run on propane. Love to find me one.

Lehmans.com probably has something like that. They’ve got a lot of nifty ‘off the grid’ stuff.

Pricey though.

"refrigerators that run on propane."

There used to be plenty of those in use in remote Canadian summer cottages, Boy Scout Camps, etc.

I think they may have used ammonia as the refrigerant. Without a positive displacement pump, sometimes they had to be turned upside down for a while to get the working fluid into the proper spots to be able to start them up.

this revolt will be undefeatable if the rebels use very low-tech "leaderless resistance."

I pay a fine of $12 a month for NOT allowing them to put a ‘smart meter’ on my house.

I’m an ole great-granny living alone 0 and I reemed that guy with the smart meter under his arm out six ways to Sunday - He was dertermined he was going to pu it on. I sent him packing -

Anyone who did due diligence - research - on these things and allowed them to be installed - deserve what they’re going to get - except those in areas where not enough people came out and said NO WAY - and weren’t left with the opt-out option.

Those meters read the electrical signal of everything you use in your house. they can tell what kind of toaster or hair dryer you use - and when and for how long.

They can shut off your furnace - like a country in Europe, I forget which one - their heat doesn’t get turned on until Nov - no matter the actual temperature - and off again in March - no matter.

Remember, dear leader warned us all (meantime he has the oval office turned up to 77 in the winter - says) “You can’t have your furnace on 72...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETX1E__iVsE

And none of the above even gets into the radiation issues about these meters -

Welcome to the New World you are allwoing -

Every $12 you’re forced to pay is a curse on the regulators. They will choke on it eventually.

As previously explained, I replaced our ~38 yr old Dishwasher with a 35 yr old one I had stored in the basement after we used it for 2 years in the previous house before moving ~33 yr ago.

It works great and like the one it replaced washes the dishes in under a half hour when it then goes into an optional dry mode for less than another half hour.

Since reading this thread, I’ve been toying with collecting some parts for some of the appliances we have. Some of the new stuff I just plain don’t like.

Good thing you still had the dishwasher but I can’t believe your wife let you get away with storing it that long! hahaha!

The other day I was in an antique store and saw a nice piece of furniture. Turned out to be an ice box. I thought of purchasing it as a joke. Now I’m not so sure. I may need it after all!

Don’t just close them down, close them and hang every body involved in the rule making.
Then hang every body involved in the enforcement of those unconstitutional rules. Only public hangings, on lamp posts, road overpasses, and tree limbs in public parks.
Enough corpses dangling 6 inches off the ground on Pennsylvania Avenue; and the rest of the criminals, progressives and libtard politicians will get the idea.
