Embattled IRS official Lois Lerner will not testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee unless shes given immunity from prosecution, her lawyer told POLITICO Tuesday.
They can obtain her testimony tomorrow by doing it the easy way immunity, William W. Taylor III said in a phone interview. Thats the way to resolve all of this.
The comments reflect the hard-line approach Lerner, the former head of the IRS division that scrutinized conservative groups, and her legal team are taking in defending her role in the agencys scandal.

Doesn’t quite makes sense, does it?
Darrell Issa should tell Lois Lerner that she'll honor a subpoena or be held in contempt after waiving her Fifth Amendment rights with her little grandstand play.
Put her on the witness stand. If she doesn’t talk, jail her for contempt and leave her there until she does.
It’s time to play hardball with this witch.
Then charge her corrupt ass with Perjury.
re: “They can obtain her testimony tomorrow by doing it the easy way immunity,
Whoa! No one asks for immunity unless they’ve got bad stuff they’ve been doing. I’ve seen enough 24 episodes to know that.
Not necessarily, see Ollie North.
I say give it to her. It’s the information and the truth we want. If it turns out she received direction from above, then we got something.
re: “Not necessarily, see Ollie North.”
Agreed, but Lois Lerner is no Oliver North.
No immunity for the witch.
I'd add it's time for the Republicans in general to play politics like the Dems - for blood. This compromising, country club gentleman crap has to stop.
I agree, immediate contempt charge, jailed for 30 days, solitary confinement, no lawyers,no visitors. Bring her back in 30 days to testify again, if she refuses, repeat as necessary. The games will end rather quickly if Congress actually exercised their POWERS.
don’t give her immunity until they find out what she knows
If they give her Immunity and then she says “I confess- it was all my plan to target Tea party groups” then they have nothing.
This chick is dumber that I originally thought.
Let’s see here...what are the chances of finding a disgruntled current or ex IRS employee who knew and saw everything and will be happy to put this moron away?
“close enough for government work”
She might as well just lie and apologize later like Crapper did.
I’ve never understood why the 5th amendment is even an option in situations like this. She’s a public employee and her bosses want answers to their questions.
Imagine if your boss asked you if you had completed a job and you told him that you didn’t want to answer.
Issa's side of the deal is that either she spills her guts or goes to jail.
No one in a position of authority at the IRS will ever become a martyr.
