Egypt's high command said on Wednesday the army was ready to die to defend Egypt's people against terrorists and fools, in a response to Islamist President Mohamed Mursi that was headlined "The Final Hours".

The post on the official Facebook page of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), headed by armed forces chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, said: "We swear to God that we will sacrifice even our blood for Egypt and its people, to defend them against any terrorist, radical or fool."(continued)

Just wait for Bathouse Barry to rush to the rescue of the Muslim Brotherhood. He needs their support because they’re big fans of Al Qaeda.

I almost wish we had such a military...

-——“DAWIN” in Arabic which means, I think, giving a certain impression on what you mean or say but the contents of it might be empty——

The logical conclusion to that interesting factoid is that Barck Obama is a “Dawinist”. His Hussein is shining through the Barackness

No doubt that Barry keeps us all at bay by being vague about his past, who he is, where he's going and what the hell he is doing in the WH.
Reminds me of a book/film called “Being There” (Peter Seller's last film). It's about a gardener half-wit who suddenly finds himself in high political office because everybody things and attributes things to him that he never intended. His name was “CHANCE: the Gardner but everybody called him Chancy Gardner...so we have “Barabamma”.

Military juntas (Turkey until recently) are the best forms of government for Islamic countries.

Because Islam is mutually exclusive to individual liberty, democracy in an Islamic country will always lead to an Islamic theocracy, which will abuse the minority. So democracy is off the table, unless you want to live with a 7th century, homicidal, goat kissing state.

Arab nationalism offered a secular fascist alternative, but took the form of dictators. These dictators consolidated power by eliminating everyone that could possibly put limits on their power.

As in Turkey from WWI to just recently, a military junta cracks down on mainly islamic elements to maintain their power, but they have no ideology to force on people, which makes people relatively safe against crimes of conscience. Although dictators do emerge from juntas, they often do not, as the military continues to operate as a staff operation. There is a civilian president that is only allowed to act within the confines of the military’s allowable limits, but this serves to prevent a general from becoming the figurehead.

In foreign policy, military juntas tend to be subdued. They might welcome a war against a weaker antagonist, but they do not want to enter into a conflict which will weaken their power. They have no ideology to hold their power with, they need their tanks and crack troops to hold power at home. If those are taken out, they know they are in trouble, as the ideological movements they have been suppressing quickly become more powerful. And the U.S. is very good at destroying military equipment.

So, to sum up. I hope that the military in Egypt does take over and form a junta, as that is the best an Arab Islamic country can hope for.

The difference is the leadership. Theirs has courage.

I’d put small-to-medium US units up against anyone in the world. Once the officers become political, then I’m not so certain.

Just my $.02.

Always listen carefully and try to differentiate between Rhetoric and Dawin, i that way, you will come to KNOW THY ENEMY well.

A very interesting and astute analysis. . .however, given those realities how does anyone ever "know" what the heck these people mean or intend. . .I say, screw trying to figure them out. . .let's just be clear about what WE mean. . .let them do the figuring.

On the other hand, given your analysis, I bet the last 25 years has totally confused our enemies in the Middle-East. .. .we kick their ass with Bush 1. . .then we go belly-up with pansy Clinton and have no response to the attack of our embassies, the Towers, the Cole. . .they figure we've had enough and strike us hard on 911. . NEVER imagining for a moment that we would respond as we did under Bush 2, i.e. by kicking their ass for the next 8 years. Then, we suddenly go back to pansyville, elect a muslim, Osama Obama. . .At this point they probably conclude that we are just trying to trick them into another miscalculation so that we can justify an even greater ass-kicking. . .the point is, I imagine such a people, as you have described, have no means whatsoever to figure out what the hell we will do next. . .which is good, I'd say. . .keep them guessing and knowing that a wrong guess means the USA, at any moment, can turn on a dime and get Medieval on their ass. . .and pray to God that they don't figure out how weakened we truly are at this time under Osama Obama, just as God confounded the Japanese to miscalculate how weakened we were at Pearl Harbor.

Thanks for that detailed discussion.

Several years ago, an authior explained the same concept with a tale of riding in a cab in an arab country. His cab came nose to nose with one going the opposite direction in a right of way conflict. Both drivers leapt out and began yelling at each other, making a multitude of vile threats. After a few minutes, at the point where the author was sure they were about to come to blows, they got back in their cabs, maneuvered them around each other, and happily drove off. His driver later explained that was the Arab way of conflict resolution.

I also keep that tale in mind when I hear these guys bloviating.
