Megyn Kelly Moving to Primetime at Fox News
TVNEWSER ^ | July 2 | Merrill Knox

Posted on 07/02/2013 12:00:04 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Megyn Kelly is moving to primetime for Fox News Channel, the network announced this afternoon. But to which hour, is not known. Since 2010, Kelly has anchored the two-hour afternoon show “America Live.”

“Megyn is an exceptional talent who has successfully filled and surpassed each role we have given her at the network,” Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement. “Her ability to command the screen, delve into the facts and lead a debate is what makes her one of the most sought-after anchors in the business.”

Kelly signed a new contract with Fox News in May. Last fall, before negotiations got underway, Ailes told TVNewser, “We have a great relationship. Eventually, we’d love her to stay here and be even a bigger star.”

“Roger Ailes hired me nine years ago when I was new to this business and he had little other than instinct to suggest it might work out,” Kelly says. “I was grateful to him then, remain so today, and am excited for this next opportunity.”

The move is scheduled to happen after Kelly returns from maternity leave. But it was not announced, and it is not immediately clear, which primetime hour Kelly will anchor. Primetime in cable news typically means 8-11pm. Fox News Channel’s top two shows are O’Reilly at 8pm and Hannity at 9pm. “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” at 10pm just finished the second quarter as the sixth-most watched show on Fox News,

The network also announced that it has signed long-term deals with Van Susteren, as well as with Bret Baier, Shepard Smith, Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity. Adding intrigue into what may come next, Mediaite reported that “earlier this spring” Van Susteren met with CNN chief Jeff Zucker “inquiring about a potential return to CNN.”

"Not too many Greta fans here but I think she's a good interviewer."

I really like to listen to Greta. She really gets to the meat of the thing. Hannity and O'Reiley like to argue.

She’s going to be on the Blaze starting full time sometime this month.

Probably starting this week or next.

She will be doing news updates in the evenings and I can almost guarantee at some point she’ll have her own show.

I do like Greta, however, is it just me or do there seem to be an awful lot of commercials during her show?

It seems that the more successful a program is, the more commercials they have.

I hope it’s that insufferable Shemp Smith! My second choice would be Greta!

I like Greta, especially when she goes into her lawyer interviews/cross examinations and asks the really pertinent questions.

I find it hard to take Hannity seriously all the time (unlike Greta) - but he seems likable, sincere and defnitely has a following.

So I agree with most here - Shep.

Yes and it was rabid support not tepid. She was really worked up over that doctor...I think he is a psychologist who works for Fox News...because he refused to say people r born that way. I wonder tho if she would really leave her kids with a transvestite...but she was all for leaving other people’s kids with them.

I agree Greta is the best in the lineup.

Red Eye can never be replaced by the Bloviator. President of Red Eye, John Bolton says!

OK...so who are the two ladies who are always on O'Reilly's segments "is it legal"? Or whatever it's called...

I thought Megyn Kelly was one, and that she was the one that seemed "progressive" in her views? BUT, I don't remember!

Whatever! and I'd definitely vote for Shep Smith going elsewhere..."Special Report" is the best news show, although Brett Baier is no Britt Hume...Greta is good depending on what she's talking about, and likewise O'Reilly although he's a "bloviator" sometimes/often. Hannity likewise...that's MY opinion, "I report, you decide", LOL!

Get rid of Smith and O’Reilly and put her in those two slots - and yes I know Smith isn’t on in the 8-11 time slots.

I hope Greta doesn’t go. I’ve tired of the shrill antics of Hannity and O’Reilly. Megan as smart as she is can get a little crazy.
