Its very likely that she doesn’t read anything; much less cursive writing.

She was just using that as an excuse.

I wonder how in the heck she knew the word.

It's more than likely that she thought that "cursive" writing had something to do with cursing (!!@#$%^)? If she was never exposed to it how would she know?
