I’m pretty sure that’s more of a dominance/pecking order thing. Alpha female dogs have been known to mount passive males.

That’s kind of what I think but it’s difficult to visualize when there’s forty young bulls in a pen who are being sorted and you only have a moment to see them perform the hop.
