Scientists May Have Found a Biological Basis for Homosexuality. That Could Be Bad News for Gays.

Full Title: Born This Way? Scientists may have found a biological basis for homosexuality. That could be bad news for gay rights.

“Baby, you were born this way.” As soon as Lady Gaga sang these words on her smash hit "Born This Way," they became a rallying cry for gay people around the world, an anthem for sexual minorities facing discrimination. The shiny, catchy song carries an empowering (if simple) message: Don’t be ashamed about being gay, or bi, or trans, or anything—that’s just how you were born. Gaga later named her anti-bullying charity after the same truism, and two filmmakers borrowed it for their documentary exposing homophobia in Africa. A popular "Born This Way" blog encourages users to submit reflections on “their innate LGBTQ selves.” Need a quick, pithy riposte against anti-gay bigotry? Baby, we were born this way.

But were we? That’s the foundational question behind the gay rights movement—and its opponents. If gay people were truly born that way, the old canard of homosexuality as a “lifestyle choice” (or “sexual preference”) is immediately disproven. But if gay people weren’t born that way, if scientists were unable to find any biological basis for sexual orientation, then the Family Research Council crowd could claim vindication in its fight to label homosexuality unnatural, harmful, and against nature.

In recent years, scientists have proposed various speculative biological bases for homosexuality but never settled on an answer. As researchers draw closer to uncovering an explanation, however, a new question has arisen: What if in some cases sexuality is caused by an identifiable chemical process in the womb?SNIP

That is one implication of one of the most widely accepted hypotheses thus far proposed. And if it’s true, it could turn out to be a blow for the gay rights movement.

We should be careful to separate being gay from homosexual activities. The men of ancient Greece and current day Afghanistan take boys as lovers. This is a learned behavior from their culture. To me, it seems both sprung from disrespect of women. So, when gay rights activists say that being gay is innate and no amount of propaganda can change that, I would offer ancient Greece and current day Afghanistan as counter evidence. These men weren't all born with a different genetic makeup than the countries around them. They perform homosexual acts because it's the norm of their countries. Why Athens and not Sparta? They must have been very similar in genetic makeup. So if a culture promotes homosexual activity, there will be more of it, regardless of how anyone was born.

I believe some people are born attracted to the same sex or become that way early on. We can often tell if someone is gay without having witnessed them doing or saying anything. The existence of "GAYDAR" and its high level of accuracy mean that gay people don't just behave differently, they are different.

Now the kicker. There have been studies done on sets of identical twins and there are many cases where one twin is gay and the other isn't. They have the exact same genetic makeup so it's not a "gay gene". That leaves something happening in the birth process or early life as a real possibility.

When the first “orientation specific” abortion occurs, then there’ll be a fantastic outrage.

I've been saying for a while: any prenatal test for homosexuality will be considered a hate crime.

Any researcher developing one will be targeted. Any company producing such tests will be boycotted. Any lab processing such a test will be invaded by homosexual activists and burned to the ground.

Why Athens and not Sparta?

Sparta was as much into pederasty as Athens was if not more so. That is not a good comparison.

I met a gay guy who was one of 13 children. Grew on a farm in the middle of no where Alabama .

Turns out that 9 of the children, sons and daughters, were gay as well. Back then I wondered if it was a fluke, a freak of nature, a chromosome disorder. . . something was up.

The other thing I wondered was how were the parents feeding, clothing and educating all those kids but that’s another story.

I agree with your thoughts .... The uterine environment, bombarded by excess T2 (testosterone) or imbalanced w estrogen casts the mold.

I believe there is more to that though...

There is some interesting research that looked at Monoamine Oxidase - A (MAO-A) activity in male children as they became adults monitoring for correlations between MAO A gene, maltreatment, and antisocial behavior (Caspi et al., 2002; Science). Interestingly, subjects who suffered abuse and carried the low - activity MAO-A gene were 9 times more likely as the rest of the study group to engage in antisocial behavior such as persistent fighting, bullying, lying, stealing or disobeying rules in adolescence. This group accounted for only 12 percent of the subjects but 44 percent of the study group’s convictions for violent crime.

Interesting study which suggests that there is a strong environmental effect (frequent changes in primary caregivers, rejection by mother, or physical or sexual abuse) that determines the ultimate outcome as well.

For what it is worth...

Honestly, it matters not what the reason for SSAD-CCC (Same Sex Attraction Disorder Crotch-Centric-Crowd) is found to be or even if there are multiple reasons.

The fact remains, civilized and decent people suppress wants and desires which a society views as bad, wrong, deviant, illegal, take your pick. It is one thing to have thoughts or desires and another thing completely to act on them openly in society.

The all crotch, all the time crowd, not only refuse to suppress their deviant urges but demand we celebrate it, change our laws to support it, and demean the very term of marriage to include their poop shoot mentality.

To follow the illogical mentality of the SSAD-CCC any want or desire should be allowed to be acted upon and no matter how vile and unhealthy, and demand that it be celebrated.

You’re right of course. So, they will have the societal position of other children with birth defects brought on by environmental influences, like maybe Thalidomide babies.

Of course none of this is true, nor does this research have any bearing on what is a political phantasma, not a search for proper ordering in society.

Just in time for Obamacare death panels.

I hope folks didn’t think death panels would ignore skin color and homosexuality when deciding who to kill.

If you want to get “granted life” by the death panels, may i suggest you show up with a dark tan or brown makeup, holding hands with member of the same sex?

One thing we know about homosexuality is that their selection is not biological. Because any trip down that lane is a genetic dead end as homosexuals do not pass their genes to their children.

Not necessarily.

Consider matrilocal societies, where the man goes to live with his wife's clan. Heterosexual boys do not contribute to their clan, because they will leave when it's time to get their own wives. Homosexual boys will tend to stay with the clan, and contribute to the survival of the clan, including the children of their sisters, who share much of their genes.

Matrilocal societies were pretty much superseded by patriarchal societies, where the woman would go live with her husband. At that point, the gay gene became much less useful.

If the theory in the article is correct, maybe it’s just that the mother, who already has several boys, is wishing her hardest that her baby be a girl, and somehow bombards the male fetus with “be a girl” hormones (or whatever). That’s as scientific an idea as what’s in the article!

I agree. I doubt there is a genetic basis for homosexuality; it seems to be the sort of trait that would eliminate itself from the gene pool.

Homosexuality propagates itself through recruitment, typically through the imprinting of first sexual experience that you suggested. I can’t speak to girls, but boys start to get their sexual curiosity around 11 or 12, and begin to form their sexual identities around 14. By the time they are 17, their sexual preferences are pretty well set. It’s my belief that left alone, a boy will naturally be attracted to girls of about the same age and maintain that attraction for life. However, if he is “seduced” by an older male, he can be “turned” to homosexuality with a bent for pedophilia. The two things go hand in hand, so to speak.

It’s no coincidence that the gays want to infiltrate the Boy Scouts. Its the age they are naturally inclined to target for recruitment. A Boy Scout troop is a candy store to the practicing homosexual.

All fetuses up to that point are female. At that time, hormones that determine the sex of the child are released.

Your statement is incorrect. Sex is determined at conception by the child either getting an X or Y chromosome from the father.

What happens later and has often been misunderstood is that there is a hormone release around the seventh week and after that the child begins to show either male or female characteristics.

The hormones do not cause a child to be male or female, they happen because the child is either male or female.

God is not concerned about why a person is gay

If Blanchard is right, then (at least some) gay people are indeed born gay, but there’s still something wrong with them. The hypothesis turns homosexuality into a birth defect, an aberration: Gay people are deviants from the normative mode of heterosexuality.

"Worse" yet, it may turn it into something treatable. That would spell the end of homosexuality as we know it. If said antigen has been identified, somebody should get right on that.

One thing we know about homosexuality is that their selection is not biological. Because any trip down that lane is a genetic dead end as homosexuals do not pass their genes to their children.

***************************

Homosexuals are perfectly capable of producing children (and thus their genes), with each other or with a heterosexual. Our neighbors are lesbians. Prior to their meeting, one became pregnant with twins through a relationship with a man. It has not been unusual in the past and even now for a man to conceal being a homosexual, to marry, and to have children. At times men and women who have been homosexual have married each other in order to conceal their inclinations, and have had children together.

Despite all of this, homosexuals are still a small percentage of the population. What does this tell us? I believe it should be clear to anyone who is willing to see that homosexuality is an aberration.

The gays will be just like the radical deaf. They HATE the fact that most deafness can be cured and say it will destroy their “culture”. Butt Pirates will be the same way.

There is no biological or birth basis, the root cause is found in Romans chapter 1,3.
