Day 15 (Week #3) Zimmerman Trial – Witness Discussion Thread
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | June 28, 2013 | Sundance

Today, June 28th, is DAY #15 (of 3rd week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. [Yesterday] … it was simply not a very good day at all for the prosecution. The primary State witnesses today were Rachel Jeantel, Jenna Lauer, and Selma Mora.

The first had her credibility substantively destroyed, the second was powerfully–almost humiliatingly–co-opted by the defense, and the third provided testimony entirely consistent with the defense’s theory of lawful self-defense. (continue reading)

The St. Travon supporters always say that there was no blood on Travon’s hands. Are they aware that no testing was done?

It sounded to me that O’Mara has the lead EMT’s statements in hand and they are different than the female EMT’s statements.

If he is deliberately torpedoing his own case he has to make certain that he leaves no stone unturned in the process. Also he would probably be the target of most of the death threats once he moved to dismiss all charges.

>> I wonder if he would simply request the judge that charges be dismissed at the end of presenting his case.

Or ask the judge for a directed judgment. I doubt Nelson would give O’Mara a DJ. But what if BDLR asked for one? I doubt she’d refuse, but it would be ALL KINDS OF STRANGE if she did refuse and made the defense present and sent it to the jury anyhow.

With this freakshow, it seems anything could happen.

What lesser charge would apply when the Florida law says you can defend yourself?

Jaywalking? Bleeding on a sidewalk without a permit?

Wouldn’t the lesser charge be manslaughter?

“Are they aware that no testing was done?”

It wouldn’t change their minds one bit.

It was also raining, as someone here pointed out yesterday. GZ had to get up from under him...the police/paramedics had to turn him over, so there were plenty of opportunities for the blood to be “washed” off.

Probably Manslaughter or Voluntary Manslaughter. Possibly negligent homicide .....if FL has those statutes...

When I was in my twenties, I got jumped by about 6 black teens late at night. I was next to a busy street, and I was in total panic mode. Trying to push any of them in front of the fast moving cars.

I was fortunately able to fight my way to a gas station across the street, and when I got there they all kind of went away. About a minute later a cop showed up and drove me home.

It was really one of the scariest moments in my life. You realize that you’re at the mercy of a bunch of thugs that are completely absent of mercy or even basic humanity.

I’m afraid this problem is going to get so big that it can’t be ignored any more.

>> Wouldn’t the lesser charge be manslaughter?

An earlier poster pointed out that if you’re not guilty of murder because you were defending yourself, then you’re not guilty of manslaughter either. Killing someone in self defense is killing someone in self defense.

Personally, I don’t know, but that makes sense to me.

wasn’t it raining that night? A little of rain will wash fresh blood off your hands pretty quick IMO.
