Yesterday and today, jurors in George Zimmerman's murder trial heard testimony from a key prosecution witness: Rachel Jeantel, the 19-year-old_friend of Trayvon Martin who was on the phone with him right before the scuffle that ended in his death. Jeantel said that Martin repeatedly complained to her about a "creepy-*ss cracker" who was following him and that she urged him to run, which he did. After the call was dropped, she said, she called him back about 20 seconds later, and he sounded tired from running. She said he told her he saw the man again, and she heard him say, "Why are you following me for?" She said she heard "a hard-breathing man" reply, "What you doing around here?" At that point, she said, she heard "a bump" as Martin's cellphone headset fell on the ground and "the sound of wet grass." After that, "I calling, 'Trayvon, Trayvon,'" Jeantel said. "I kind of heard Trayvon saying, 'Get off, get off.' Suddenly the phone hung up, shut off."
Jeantel's testimony, which continues as I write, contradicts Zimmerman's claim that he stopped following Martin and was assaulted by him without provocation. Her account implies that it was Zimmerman who tackled Martin, rather than the other way around. How credible is her version of events? Not very.
---snip---
Over all, Jeantel is a decidedly unimpressive witness, slurring her words and speaking so softly that at times she can barely be heard, becoming increasingly testy as West highlights the inconsistencies in her testimony. Virtually all of her responses so far have included the word sir, sometimes repeated several times in the same sentence, usually tinged with sarcasm. At one point, in response to West's suggestion that Martin planned to start a fight with Zimmerman, she responded, "That's real retarded, sir."(continued)

When I first saw her, I thought she was wearing the latest carbon fiber motor cycle helmet!
how do you cancel a country?.....I guess the best thing is to split it up....I just want to be proud of America again, and its people, and I just am not....
the prosecutor didn’t believe anything...he “arranged” things to suit the need.....
exactly right.....we tend to believe that the SMART and EDUCATED people and people of good moral character will always win out, but that is just not true...
its those with a lesser intellect that is not confined by rational ideas or morality or character...that is who is going to win out....
You expect me to believe... they would print up a t-shirt like they do for Star Trek?
Yet...
Gadzooks, I guess... they do--
I didn't say smart people lie more. In fact, I would say they lie less, because they understand the problems involved in telling lies. Which is also why, when smart people do lie, they are better at it than dumb people. And the latter is what I said.
Yes there is! We have the print shop ready and will begin offering t-shirts for sale around noon today!

Regarding Uhura: Swipage Imminent!
I read a couple of apologias linked through Drudge.
We whites just don’t understand this woman’s culture. She is, after all, bi-lingual. She has long-standing cultural reasons for not trusting police and no black would ever call 911. She didn’t visit or attend the funeral because she is too sensitive to be near illness, injury or death. She omitted key information when speaking to Martin’s mother out of sensitivity and extreme respect of her elders. She is authentic and beautiful and no white can ever get that because we are so flawed by virtue of our white privilege. Her intransigence and outright hostility towards the defense attorney was hilarious and of course, *cracka* and the n-word are just common descriptive slang terms with no racist content.
I think I will go back to avoiding all information from the media on this trial.
I live/work in Atlanta suburbs. He11 yeah I expect rioting.
That’s great!
Wait... it wasn’t sarcasm. Oh. Wow. That’s one screwed up culture.
Yeah.
I keep wondering: if their culture is so inaccessible to us and our culture is totally rejected by them, why are we supposed to understand, let alone accept, their culture? Why aren’t they scorned for refusing to assimilate or, at the least, understand our POV?
It is no wonder that white kids emulate black culture. They must, in order to be acceptable in their academic and peer milieu. Do those white kids ever question this state of affairs?
It is, I conclude, all smoke and mirrors. Had Rachel appeared as a slender, articulate young black woman who could move with ease in any level of society and demonstrate a basic level of educational achievement, yet still given the same type of testimony, what would the prog culture mavens have said about her? I doubt she would have been praised. What would they have concluded about white female witnesses of varying socio-econmic levels who gave conflicting testimony, showed attitude and a lack of self-control? Again, I wonder if they would have been savaged by the culture critics.
The media, both MSM and alternative blogger media, is treating this (and by extension, everything) as a reality show popularity contest. It is all about tribal affiliations, not logic or law. The result, whatever it is, will not be justice.
Telling the truth is the easiest thing on earth to do. Lying is what makes testifying complicated and difficult.
I came across a very interesting article in another thread on this, that brings a number of related things into sharper focus.

It does not leave me with much hope for rapprochement with the larger Black community.
We used to live in rural Texas and we owned a cattle ranch. My husband hired all black cowboys, some of them became good faithful friends with whom we had very frank conversations.
I will never forget a conversation I had with Eugene. He told me that “comin’ up we was told that The (white) Man ain't never gonna let you be nuthin’ or do nuthin’”.
That was shocking to me because I thought all children were told to grow up and be the best you can be. Go to school if you can but work hard and be honest in all things.
I think this is still going on in the black community. After Katrina there was a young black man here fixing my dishwasher, we got into a conversation about hurricane Katrina. He was absolutely convinced that George Bush had bombed the levees for the purpose of drowning black people.
I asked him how he came to that (shocking) conclusion and he said his older black relatives who still lived in NO had told him.
I tried to explain to him that a levee washes out from the bottom because of the action of the water pushing against it. He seemed open to that but probably went back to his old way of thinking when he left my house.
“Something is wrong with the ability to see even the most simple of truths, I do not get it.”
That is the statement of the century! We have devolved into a country of candy-a$$ed whiners who think that everything that’s wrong in their lives is someone else’s fault. And there are a gaggle of PI lawyers salivating to take their cases. With what passes for “citizens” here today, if it were 1776 again, the British would win. No, scratch that, they are bigger candy-a$$es than we are. I guess I really don’t know who would win today’s war of liberation. We have allowed the Marxists to take over, and completely ruin our education system, as evidenced by that black hippo “star witness” in the Zimmerman trial. And the “talking heads have the temerity to ‘tell us” that we “don’t understand her culture and that in reality she’s a Mensa who is just distainfully tolerating the white lawyers because “we all know” that calllng “whitey” a “cracker” isn’t the least bit racist.
