Richard Weinberg is director of communications at Washington National Cathedral, where he has served since 2006. He oversees the day-to-day management of the Cathedrals communications, marketing, media relations, website, and serves as primary editor of Cathedral Age magazine. At the Cathedral, Weinberg has worked on high-profile projects including the events to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and the communications surrounding the 2011 earthquake. In both cases, Weinberg has served as spokesperson for the Cathedral, having been called upon for interviews with local and national media outlets. More recently, Weinberg has worked closely with Dean Hall on the Cathedrals advocacy for stronger gun violence prevention measures and in support of marriage equality. He also leads the Cathedrals outreach with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
An active member of the Cathedral Congregation, Weinberg participates in a variety of lay ministries including serving as a Communion minister, reader, cantor at Choral Evensong, and as co-chair of the LGBT ministry group.
