Edward Snowden: confusion over name helped him leave Hong Kong
Paperwork from the United States demanding the arrest of Edward Snowden confused his middle name and lacked his passport number, Hong Kong said, defending its decision to allow him to fly to Moscow.

Hong Kong's Justice secretary, Rimsky Yuen, said the US had messed up the basic details of its application.
The application listed Mr Snowden's middle name as "James" or simply by the initial "J", but Hong Kong's immigration had the name "Joseph", he said.
"We believe his name needed to be clarified or it would create legal problems," he said.
He added that the US had also failed to provide his passport number. "In our view, passport numbers are key information to identify a person."
The US has lashed out at Hong Kong for failing to detain the former CIA employee and intelligence whistleblower.
The White House has insisted that the paperwork that the US submitted to Hong Kong was in order and arrived "in plenty of time to have prohibited travel".
"We are just not buying this was a technical decision by a Hong Kong immigration official," said Jay Carney, the White House spokesman. "This was a deliberate choice by the government to release the fugitive despite a valid arrest warrant."

I think the idea is to make people believe if the left in this country was collaborating with the terrorist, then Bush would have picked up on it because he was monitoring the left.

Far from it. Watching the utter incompetence of this crew and their manequin chief exposed to the point where anyone denying it is also exposed is very enjoyable. Besides, it’s doubtful this guy can tell the Chinese or Russians anything they don’t already know. It’s the American people and Congress who have been kept in the dark and lied to.
Understandable with such a common name like “Edward Snowden.” There were bound to be a bunch of men with the same name and middle initial in Hong Kong at any given time. He could have been confused also with Edward Jeffrey Snowden, Edward Jason Snowden, Edward John Snowden, Edward Jonathan Snowden, Edward Julius Snowden, and a host of others.
God help any of yinz who are actually named “Snowden” who try and board a plane in the future...
The request was hand delivered official to official.... Everyone knew who it was for......
That a major paper bought into this nonsense is embarrassing for them....
Of course the Honkers authorities could have detained Snowden to oblige Pres B O Jangles, if they wanted to. But they didn't.
The Telegraph knows this, even Washington Jay knows this.
