NEW YORK Hostess is betting on a sweet comeback for Twinkies when they return to shelves next month.
The company that went bankrupt after an acrimonious fight with its unionized workers last year is back up and running under new owners and a leaner structure. It says it plans to have Twinkies and other snack cakes back on shelves starting July 15.
Based on the outpouring of nostalgia sparked by its demise, Hostess is expecting a blockbuster return next month for Twinkies and other sugary treats, such as CupCakes and Donettes. The company says the cakes will taste the same but that the boxes will now bare the tag line "The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever."
~~SNIP~~
Hostess Brands Inc. was struggling for years before it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in early 2012. Workers blamed the troubles on years of mismanagement, as well as a failure of executives to invest in brands to keep up with changing tastes. The company said it was weighed down by higher pension and medical costs than its competitors, whose employees weren't unionized.

Are the equivalent cupcakes from other vendors not sold on your store shelves?
Me too, on all three...
Agree. I wonder if they’re still making the “Bells”, but had to step away. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten anything pre-packaged that was that good.
I’d buy the orange cupcakes, I guess. The rest of it- meh.
Funnybones? Hello?
When my job sent me to the West Coast for a year, I really missed Tastycakes. I’m so lucky mom sent me lots of care packages,
They show up randomly, WalMart, 7-11s etc., and there does not seem to be any seasonality to it. If you can get overlook the likely staleness, Beeman’s Pepsin is a good one too. Always liked that one.
Beemans Pepsin is a good one too.”
Thanks. Don’t think I recall seeing that one. Will look for it.
Yes, but I don't like the competing products. Just not the same. Maybe because I grew up with Hostess Cup Cakes and the chemicals contained therein have conditioned my palette.
“About 15,000 unionized workers lost their jobs in the aftermath.”
Sweetest part of the story.
>> WAtch for the PR smears from unions/Democrats to follow.
Hopefully the extent of the anticipated peevish response.
LOL..... I haven’t eaten one of those things for over 40 years, but the day they were all off the shelves, I craved them.
But then, I am a nostalgic sorta guy. Presently, I am shopping for a 1940-1950s toaster.... a vintage Sunbeam T-20 Automatic. Being a diabetic, I can’t eat much toast anymore, but knowing that the past is still near me is pleasing. Yes, I might actually be nuts, but us crazy folks are happy souls. LOL
Check out eBay for vintage toasters. I found a 1965 GE Toast-R-Oven from high school days that works like a champ. It’s the only one model where the door pops open automatically when the toast is done.
Anyway, the First Wookiee will soon be charging in, leading a protest at Hostess headquarters! After all, obesity is now a disease!
Yes, I have seen them on eBay and have been comparing all weekend.
As for Thunder Butt, she will likely have a fit. LOL

Outstanding.I'm gearing up to double the dose of my diabetes meds.
"Yo, Ding Dong, Man, Ding Dong, Ding Dong, Yo".
Regarding Twinkies, I have four original wrapped Twinkies in my freezer and two empty Twinkies boxes!
My brother won a case of tastecakes when Bobby Clark scored a goal against the Blackhawks, back in the day.
Wow!
