Don’t lose a war. That simple.

Especially don't start a war, loot a hell of a lot of art treasures from your victims and then lose. It makes it very hard to play the victim card when it is so blood stained.

Yeah, the Germans are not going to get a lot of sympathy from the rest of the world on that. And Stalin knew it well. As far as he was concerned, they were owed. I can't say I blame him, and defending old, bloodthirsty commies pains me to the core.

German looting was matched by German vandalism. Precious historical, scientific and cultural treasures lost to the Nazis are literally irreplaceable. In this instance, I’m going to side with Stalin (and Bomber Harris). They sowed the wind, they reaped the whirlwind.
