Fundraising spam. Why? NumbersUSA already has a petition that 600,000+ have signed. Why re-invent the wheel with smaller numbers just to raise money?
Yeah, I didn’t understand that fundraising thing.
Nothing wrong with raising funds but THIS issue is so important that to beg money lessens the seriousness of it.
Just my opinion, everybody’s got one.
BINGO!
they’re legislators. legislating is what they do.
doesn’t matter if it makes sense or is cost effective.
just so long as they DO SOMETHING!

I'm not just sitting and doing nothing. I'm hoping really, really hard that the immigration bill is defeated. I figure that will be just as effective as the Cruz petition will be.
I’m sure you have called a few times, got others to call, sent a lot of mail in to all the GOP thinking of voting for this right.
Sad part is that there are sitting on their ass complaining about this, not doing anything and never makes any calls or do a damn thing except log on here and moan while they expect others to do the work for them
Here are the details, for those who tweet....
At 2 p.m. eastern time, NumbersUSA will join other organizations in a Stop Amnesty "Tweet Up." The goal of the Tweet Up is to get the hashtag #StopAmnesty trending and to overwhelm Senators' twitter accounts with tweets detailing the flaws of the amnesty bill.
We ask that at 2 p.m. Eastern time/ 1 p.m. Central time/ noon Mountain time/ 11 a.m. Pacific time, you use the hashtag #StopAmnesty and tweet messages to your Senator. We also ask that you stay engaged on Twitter and promote the message as much as you can.
Tweet yourself, retweet others, reply to naysayers, etc. - just make sure you are using #StopAmnesty
Please keep an eye on these twitter pages belonging to other groups who will be participating. Experts from Center for Immigration Studies, Eagle Forum, Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), Heritage Action, Heritage Foundation, ProEnglish, and Americans4Work will be tweeting about the bill.

@EagleForumDC
@FAIRImmigration
@Heritage_Action
@Heritage
@proenglishUSA
@Americans4Work
The main points we hope you push in your tweets are these:
The CBO report finds that S 744 will decline wages of legal workers for 12 years and will increase unemployment for 6 years while only stopping 25% of illegal immigration.
The bill will bring millions of new workers, with every skill level, at a time when 20 million Americans cannot find a full time job. There is no labor shortage.
This bill was written by special interests who want cheap labor and do not care about the welfare of immigrants.
The bill will weaken current law. It fails to build a border fence and implement an entry/exit system - both of which have already been mandated by Congress.
Law enforcement is overwhelmingly against the bill including the President of the ICE workers union.
No matter what amendments may be agreed to today, the bill is still amnesty first and enforcement later, maybe. Members of the Gang of 8 have admitted this and refuse to tie border security to amnesty.
The American people disagree with that sequence. They want enforcement FIRST.
BTTT
Does singing it pit me on some NSA watch list?

It depends on how you sing it, I suppose.... :)
The American people don’t want amnesty. We shouldn’t accept that even if the border is secured in whatever sequence. Nor should we accept the massive increase in legal immigration and the doubling of the guest worker program, which will cause the loss of jobs and further depress wages.
In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled TED CRUZ Launches National Petition Drive to Kill Immigration Bill, Democrat_media wrote:
Good points
this Amnesty bill must be stopped
ANYTHING that tries to kill this bill is good
trolls are out in force
what do these trolls want 50 million more immigrants ( the relatives of the Amnestied)to move to the USA to get obamacare and welfare?
You Got It ! And that’s what I see Cruz is using to stop it. From a political aspect it’s very difficult position for a politican to expose the arrangement we have with Mexico particularly if “hispanic” but they don’t have a Mexican heritage.
But the facts are the Mexican government by policy encourages a nationalistic identity particularly in the US urging their nationals to maintain ties to the homeland keeping in mind their territorial claims. If Cuba was doing this our borders would be closed and we’d be taking a long hard look at who is comming in.
Great term to add for the #StopAmnesty Tweet up, today!!
“Im disappointed. It doesnt object to the legalization and path to citizenship (that is, amnesty) in Rubios bill, but only to current shortcomings in border security.”
Cruz is doing a good thing here, keeping the two issues separate. It’s the Dems and RINOs who want to make border security dependent on amnesty. There’s no reason the government’s constitutional duty to secure our borders should be connected with any other issue.
Force the rat’s and RINOs to vote “NO” on a bill for closing the borders. See what that does to their political future.
Good post. Thanks for all the links.
What does the petition say? I found it!!!
>>> Help us reach our goal of $200,000! <<<
There’s no petition to sign.
On a similar post last night, when this inconvenient fact was brought out into the light, some freepers found it necessary to accuse the poster(s) of being trolls. I’ve been here going on 15 years and assure you I’m no troll... your enthusiasm is appreciated but the truth is this is a fundraising effort.
I entered the thread in the spirit of signing a legitimate petition. Most freepers have signed onto a petition and know what they look like. I signed onto something but haven’t a clue what it was... it will not surprise me one bit if I am contacted in the future for additional campaign funds.
I appreciate it when Free Republic projects and maintains high standards, otherwise not so much.
Thanks for the info!
Ted Cruz is one of the very few pols left with credibility.
Marco Rubio demonstrates why he is an extreme disappointment. He starts with a false premise and expands upon it with a pack of lies.
This government is BROKEN.
