They’re not using in the pejorative sense, putting each other down or denigrating each other by doing it.

Not always D1. Ever see the 9 minute skit on youtube by Chris Rock talking about racism? THAT'S denigration in it's highest form.

No I haven’t, but it some folks did weigh in to say they’ve seen it used as a pejorative, so I may have been wrong on that count.
