Documentary aims to 'break silence' on crash of TWA Flight 800

A coming documentary on the 1996 TWA Flight 800 disaster offers "solid proof that there was an external detonation," Tom Stalcup, a co-producer of the documentary, told CNN's "New Day" on Wednesday.

I will always believe that it was terrorist..Lots of people on the ground and also pilots saw something coming from the ground a bright light.

The pilot of Eastwind 507, David McLain, sees a bright light. He assumes that its landing lights, even though the source appears to be high up in the sky. He further assumes that the landing lights are “coming right at us” because landing lights are highly directional, focused out in front of the aircraft.

But given that other people on other bearings ALSO saw the light, then it could not be directional landing lights of another aircraft. The light had to be from another source.

This confirms the presence of a bright white light near the doomed 747 prior to the actual explosion.

The other telling thing for me (besides the eyewitnesses) is how the entire airline industry never bought the Easter Bun... err the center fuel tank story. And how come no center fuel tank had ever exploded before or since, hmmm?

So here is a stupid question, based on what you said: is it at all possible it was a Palestinian plot to take down an Isreali jet that went wrong? That would explain why no one took credit and also why it was covered up. No way would Israel meet at Camp David with Arafat after that...

My guess is, the movie will be based off the Nelson Demille book, Night Fall.

I’m not sure whether I fully buy the conspiracy, but it was a compelling book.

I DO remember... that this was a time when Bill Clinton DID NOT WANT a terrorist attack. No way. It would mean we’d HAVE To DO SOMETHING.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former investigators of the TWA Flight 800 crash off Long Island are calling on the National Transportation Safety Board to re-examine the case.

The retired investigators claim that findings were “falsified.” A documentary on the subject is coming out in July.

There was always proof that it was shot down, but the questions have always been by whom and what for? Some have speculated that a Klinton enemy that had to be eliminated was on board, others that it was a terrorist attack. Bubba's administration orchestrated a cover up.

I was too young to remember this happening.. but I’m sure there are many Freepers with a lot of theories.

Several eyewitnesses saw the missile and their stories were brushed off and/or not documented in official reports.

As always, Freepers were not buying the coverup.

IMHO......which is expert, by the way.....fuel fumes in the center fuel tank exploding did not happen on TWA 800 for many obvious well known technical reasons. This aircraft and, the resulting murders of all its passengers and crew was caused by another reason.....most probably a terrorist plot and successful undertakingof an attack!!! End of story!!!

Americans....please be no longer fooled by politicians of all stripes who lie to you at every chance they get....and... POTUS Obama is the absolute worst, corrupt of the entire lot. Why? Simple...Obama gor 200,000 people in germany to hear & listen to his first speech there. Today....he got only 6000 folks!!! The Germans have his number and...it’s called failure!!!

You are correct - I have a friend who is a retired TWA pilot who was flying at that time. He said not 1 single pilot believed it and explained to me how the fuel tank thing was impossible. I can’t remember the details, but he was positive. What a shame they have lied for all these years.

As I recall, the FBI took over the investigation of the "crash" from the NTSB, despite proclaiming it was not a terrorist act.

That highly irregular tidbit alone raised red flags for me.

My wife and I watched coverage on the night it happened. It was striking how many witnesses that night said they saw the streak of light. I also remember they reported that some sort of Naval exercises were being conducted nearby. I have no theory as to what happened other than the official explanation seems dubious based on the eyewitness accounts that I saw on the news the night of the crash.

This incident always brings to mind a segment on the Neal Boortz show I heard at least five years ago. Boortz had a phone interview with a government offical who’d been involved with the investigation of Flight 800. Boortz was asking questions and the conversation flowed pretty smoothly, so smoothly that when the government official used the term: “When it was hit”, Boortz didn’t immediately notice and probably most listeners didn’t, either.

They ended the interview and went to a break. When they returned from the break, Boortz started saying: “Did he say what I think he said”. They replayed the tape and indeed the government investigator had twice used the phrase: “When it was hit.”

Doesn’t prove anything, but the government investigator defintely used that phrase twice in a conversation that was smooth and fast moving, and involved detailed discussion of the moment when the plane exploded.

My uncle was a very senior mechanic for Pan Am at the time. That night he was off. His take on the fuel tank theory... ...baloney.

Right down to transferring the Navy vessels used to recover the wreckage to the special forces command to remove the whistleblower protections for the crew. (wasp?)

The Clintons were pretty good with the low-information crowd, the folks who would buy the line from the media and never question it.

Bits come out, like the 100+ people who saw a light go from the surface level up before the plane exploded--from a variety of vantage points on land, in the air, and on the water.

Like the additional debris field at 90 degrees to the flight path (probably indicating a missile hit).

Like PETN residues on pieces of fabric from the plane's interior.

Like to have an explosion in a fuel tank, you need just the right fuel/air mixture, and an ignition source. Jet fuel is formulated to prevent explosions.

Not particularly good at security, the pieces of the picture which were revealed give enough when the dots are connected to yield a general picture of what really happened, but even more so, they reveal what likely did not.

My theory: Some classified stuff about this squirreled away in the FBI archives is being leaked by the Obamaites to get even with Hillary for whatever portion of the damaging Obama leaks that came from the Clintons.
