A few things I can do in FL that I couldn’t in CA:
1. Buy the gun of my choice and walk out of the store with it that day.
2. Buy a semi-auto rifle with removable magazine.
3. Afford to live within 15 minutes of a beach.
4. Swim in the ocean for a few hours without getting hypothermia.
5. Get a concealed carry permit.
6. Drive a car without smog-Nazis requiring a $100 inspection regularly.
7. Earn an income without sending a percentage to the state (no state income tax).
8. Only pay a 6% to 7% sales tax (depending on the county).
9. Keep a loaded gun in my car.
10. Ride a motorcycle without a helmet (even though I wouldn’t do it, I am free enough to choose).
11. Live without a police helicopter hovering over the neighborhood every night.
12. Vote for a conservative candidate and have a reasonable chance that candidate will win.
13. Go hunting and not worry about stumbling into a pot grow guarded by heavily-armed gangbangers.
14. Go hunting without my neighbors thinking I’m some kind of evil heartless bastard.
Just a few off the top of my head.
But it’s still Floriduh! Every day on FR I read about home invasions where homeowners are disposed to defend their property and a lot of them are in Florida and points north along the east coast. Now, while there are places in CA where that happens, I have lived in the same home for 30 years and in the town where I live there has been, I believe one person killed in his own home and that was a guy who was dealing drugs and had a deal go bad. We have very nearly no property crime. Lastly, we have mountains, deserts, and most of our land is above sea level. The last time I flew over Florida, I marveled at how most of it is simply a swamp. I’ll bet you have to keep water wings next to your bed and all your firearms have to protected against salt water. Enjoy your life. I am enjoying mine.
