CIA preparing to deliver rebels arms through Turkey and Jordan (Is this Hugh and Syria?)

The CIA is preparing to deliver arms to rebel groups in Syria through clandestine bases in Turkey and Jordan that were expanded over the past year in an effort to establish reliable supply routes into the country for nonlethal material, U.S. officials said.

The bases are expected to begin conveying limited shipments of weapons and ammunition within weeks

=======================================================================

Is this Hugh and Syria?

According to news reports, Obama wants to provide plenty of money, arms and political protection to a terrorist group. But enough about the IRS.

The White House on Thursday announced that it now thinks it's a good idea to start shipping arms to 'Syrian rebels', known up until this week as "al-Qaeda", because a "red line" had been crossed. The "red line" being defined as 'another week of scandals dominating the news.'

Obama is spying on all Americans to 'combat terrorists'. Meanwhile, in Syria he wants to arm and train terrorists for combat.

To combat powerful chemical weapons, Obama will ship small arms and ammo only to "vetted" Syrian rebel groups, since the U.S. did such a solid job vetting Tamerlan Tsarnaev. And there's only a teensy chance this weaponry might fall into the wrong hands -- as we learned in Fast and Furious.

The public justification being used for cranking up another war is that there are thoughtful slogans out there on the airwaves like, "93,000 have been killed!!!!!! We have to do something!!!!"

World renown military authority , Gen. William Kristol of the Weekly Standard has also called on the U.S. to jump into this chemical war. Kristol pushed hard for the Iraq war, so what could possibly go wrong?

Out of the alleged 93,000 killed in Syria, 153 were killed by chemical weapons. From this, the White House concludes that (a) the chemical weapons thus far used have been deadlier than the wussy conventional weapons that snuffed out 92,847, (b) Assad killed all 93,000 people and (c) Assad is almost as dangerous as Ted Cruz.

To follow the White House's impeccable moral argument further, no "red line" was breached in killing 92,847 people -- it's the 153 fatalities that justifies getting in the middle of another bloody civil war in the Middle East. The 153 are clearly deader than the 92,847.

Chemical weapons are alleged to have been used as early as August, 2012, or what Jay Carney would consider "a long time ago."

For months, the Obama administration had been debating whether there's "evidence" that chemical weapons were being used by the Syrian government. The White House now considers the "evidence" conclusive, now that the broadcast networks are covering something called the 'NSA scandal.'

Supplying weapons to the "rebels" in Libya gave us Benghazi, where former members of the "rebel movement" in Libya showed their boundless gratitude to America by slaughtering four Americans. In response to this act of kindness, Obama apologized to Muslims for attacking us. His most decisive actions thus far include arresting an obscure film maker and hacking into Sharyl Attkisson's computer.

In Egypt, dumping long-time U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak, on the basis that he was a long-time U.S. ally, while backing the "secular" Muslim Brotherhood produced another Sharia-law-loving Islamic basket case. As a bonus, with Mubarak gone, Christian groups have been the target of Egypt's tolerant new rulers. (Maybe they're a branch of the IRS.)

Looking at what happened in Libya, and looking at what happened in Libya's Benghazi, and looking at what happened in Egypt, Obama concludes we need more such amazing examples of his nifty 'doctrine' of leading from his behind. A brand new NBC/WSJ poll shows 15% of Americans want the U.S. to intervene in Syria. Encouraged by this broad support, Obama lapses again into that leading from his behind default position. If there's anything discernibly 'doctrinal' about Obama's whole foreign policy approach, it essentially amounts to taking all the lessons learned in the Bush years and methodically unlearning them. Any lesson to be gleaned from the BushCo Jesusland 'warmonger' and his Darth Cheney sidekick, unglean it. Bush's Afghanistan light footprint? Ramp up troop levels and double down on failed nation-building. Iraq? After all the blood and treasure expended, snatch ol' defeat from the jaws of victory on the home stretch, including getting the unceremonious boot out the door. Another lesson's don't fight proxy wars. Syria is the mother of all of 'em -- Iran vs. U.S., U.S. vs. Russia, then spice up the quagmire with Arab Sunnis Alawite Shias, Hezbollah, Salafists, Wahhabis, Druze, Kurds, Turks, Christians and so on. And the vital national interest in Syria is? I'd love to hear the answer to that one.

Anyway, that's...
My Two Cents...

Building bases over the past year, eh, coupled with what was going on in Benghazi? Kinda makes the “chemical attack” excuse extremely thin since they’ve been planning this since spring 2012.

Big deal. The CIA is often on the wrong side. Does this mean we can start arresting government officials for giving aid to terrorist organizations?

This will not end well. The CIA operatives and their al Queda mercenaries will be swiftly exterminated.

Sounds like a good ending to me.

Now it’s official: the CIA is reopening its gunrunning operation that was shutdown temporarily by the raid at Benghazi on 9/11/2012. Attrition on the AQ fighters against Assad is going badly for Dear Leader, so he had to manufacture an excuse to rearm them. This is just Obama smoke and mirrors to cover his aggression in Syria to please his Saudi masters and advance the Islamic caliphate.

“Those weapons will be used on Israelis, Christians and our Embassy personnel.”

... and our own troops, eventually.

F you President Obama for arming our enemies.

I just read, where Obama is now saying he’s NOT sending the rebels arms.

I am willin to bet the bank that Putin sent him a message, a clear message, that if he sends anything more than a coupld rifles, he will flatten them...

Obama, playing the lead from behind BS, could sit back and deny he was doing anything in Syria, now with Benghazi the world knows what was going on. WE were arming them thru Libya thru Turkey.

But now, since Assad crossed the red line... Obama is going to openly send arms...

Now is PUtin going to back down? Hell know. He’s saying there were no chemical weapons used....and if US sends arms he will double down and defend Assad.

You see it’s no longer about Syria, it’s now about Putin and Obama. PUtin is probably relishing it. No wonder the testosterone is flowing in his veins. He sees a milk toast in the WH, and he’s about to have fun with the guy.

In three to four weeks.. PUtin could be the most powerful man on earth....

What’s that? You disagree? Obama will overnight turn into George Patton, or Grant or Stonewall Jackson, or Andrew Jackson or Ronald Reagan.

FAt chance. This guy has backed himself into a corner. Hillary is out of the picture and laying low, sending out scandal after scandal to avoid anymore hearing on Benghazi....

3 to 4 weeks... you are probably right. All hell will break out...

Everyone knows where this is going.

Remember when Obama said after the reelection he will have more flexibility? Don think for a minute the Russians are not leveraging the Syrians in exchange for Obama pulling out missiles.

Missiles go, Russia finall can move o his neighbors since American credibility is dead there, Syria loses, Al Queada takes over Syria and now America has leverage over the Israelis.

Meanwhile America is no safer and Israeli will face another war.

Beautiful.

The only vital interest we have in Syria is for the lesser of the two evils contending there to end up (back) in control but severely weakened.

One possible justification for providing arms to the "rebels" would be to perpetuate the conflict so that the attrition is extended as long as possible, eating up men and resources from Hizbullah and the Iranian allies as much as if not more than from the Assad run military. The problem is that would be a delicate game to play with possible consequences including a face off between Russia and Turkey (i.e. NATO), a desperate Assad shaking up the board by striking out at Israel with unconventional weapons, or a Sunni victory and the emplacement of a far more maniacal and dangerous opponent on Israel's northern frontier.

I would be surprised if the Jordanians, at least and in spite of their natural inclination to support the Sunni side in this Islamic civil war, would not see a victory by the Muslim Brotherhood (Al Qaeda by any other name) as more problematic to have on their border than a weakened Assad. If that's the case, what kind of environment will our Marines find themselves in six months from now on the Jordanian side of the border? Unwelcome and with enemies on all sides?

This is the sort of three dimensional Middle East chess match we Americans are historically pretty bad at and it sounds to me like Obama (and others like McCain) is pushing us into a gun powder shed using a lit match to find our way.

Scathing essay. All of it true. Methinks you should send this to the White House...oh, never mind, they are probably reading it right now.

Charles Krauthammer(sp) said it best. Zero came upon a wreck and asked what happened? He doesn’t have a C-L-U-E. . .

Hussein knows exactly what is happening. He is arming rebels who will in turn use them on Christian an Jews in the area. And then he'll declare the rebels as refugees and bring them over here to attack us too

I'm starting to visualize Damascus as a heaping uninhabitable ruin and Gog Magog with Russia.

McCain is dutifully calling for heavy weapons...instrumental to Obama’s coverup of past shipments of the same from Libya, which resulted in the Benghazi attack...”a long time ago” as Jay Carney would say.
