If you watch his interview you can see where he kept his thumb drive. In his mouth!

The fact that his PC didn’t lock down when he inserted a thumb drive under his ID flies in the face of the company line that he was a low level tech.

He's a bit of a know-it-all, a bit of a troll, opinionated about both subjects he knows well and ones he doesn't

Isn't that a requirement for all Reddit users? I believe it's even in the terms of use.

This sounds like the Clintonian strategy of smearing the messenger.

I like how they have to demonize him, to convict.

Notice they don’t mention what deep secrets were on the pages he supposedly loaded on his thumb drive and absconded with?

He was an internet user! Hisss He had opinions! Hisss He was a legend in his own mind! Hisss He offered advise! Hisss

This guy really does sound bad Mildred. I sure hope they stop him!

Why he even thinks there are black and white issues, and rights should be observed. Hissss Hisss Hisss...

So now he only worked 4 weeks and was able to walk away with a treasure trove.

Kudos to NSA for collecting all of our private data in a system so insecure.

That does not pass the smell test.

I know people who have worked in secure defense installations. The tower unit of their computer was encased in a chicken wire cage that prevents you from inserting any type of removable media.

Sticking a thumb-drive in the all seeing eye...

Yep. What's amazing is I work on government computers and thumb-drives are verboten. If we plug one in, the network geeks know about it immediately. I wonder how lax the NSA is with its networked computers to allow this to occur. And some tell us we're supposed to trust and have trust in their abilities and motives. Someone should lose their job for allowing this to happen. All the same, I'm glad he was able to let us know what most of us already suspected - the Patriot Act part about being able to spy on those who were persons of interest and who were communicating with terrorist cells was not a secret; the secret seems to be that they were revving it up to include everything about all of us - that's why they are so pi$$ed about him "destroying National Security".

A thumb drive is really simple and it's use would have ruined the movie Swordfish.

He did it with the help of traitors like Obama and Boehner who empower these people and now call them traitors... but for different reasons than ours...

If we really wanted Snowden back, why did the British warn the airlines NOT to fly him in as he would not be allowed entry...? Presumably, the British are our closest alley, would it follow that extradition would be MUCH easier from England than from Hong Kong? (Yes!)

Obama doesn’t want Snowden back, he wants him dead or gone or discredited.

In the meantime, some Shock-n-Awe in Syria. (Wag the Dog)

SNOWDEN, PRISM, and the NSA

If you want to hear a chilling expose on PRISM, listen to the following interview of William Benny, a 40 year career NSA employee who becaame the director of 6,000 analysts in their intelligence area, and who was personally involved with PRISM under Bush.

Former Director of NSA Intelligence teveals the full extent of PRISM capabilities. MUST SEE!

He'd have my support if he had stopped on the line where he was standing up for American citizens. since he started blabbing about other stuff, not so much now.

This article makes it out like he is some sort of genius, but it's not hard to bypass this stuff unless you are a normal user. You may have noticed that they KNOW he copied the files and that he copied them to a USB memory device. That is because if you actually DISABLE the security software that prevents people from copying files to such devices, alarms will go off on ever administrators PC in the place. However, if you simply override the rule that disallows said behavior with the required credentials (which most high level administrators would know), then no one would know until an audit was conducted.

I don't know if he's truly as smart as they are making him out to be, but what he did was a rather simple task for an administrative level person. You will also notice that he split as soon as he got the data and never came back... that's because he knew the next audit would finger him. He wasn't smart enough to actually circumvent the security software (and I don't know anyone personally who could pull off something like that), he simply used a built-in feature that allowed himself an exception to the rules that were in place.

oh, and I almost forgot my other thought...

how does one get a security clearance that high with a background that includes an extremely abrasive personality like described in this article. Generally, the first indication you are a hard-headed know it all gets your consideration red stamped forever. Sounds like they may have interviewed one person who just didn't like the guy or something.
